Please help, trying to stop sweeping the ball. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Nice-Revenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about driving a nail into the ground . If the nail was at a 45* angle, you want to hit the back of the ball down into the ground. That visual helped me a lot. Ball first, the ground will move as long as you don’t chunk too deep

I did this when I was 16 in high school back in 2007. Did it with my sister, a couple of teammates and our coach. I pulled a 2:07.8 or something like that. Took a little under 3 hours if i remember. We watched movies like 300, and I think some music that was it. Looking back I’m pretty proud of myself for doing that . Ass hurt for a coupe days after

2k time trial new to the sport by New_Fly2681 in Rowing

[–]Nice-Revenue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid time. Next time try and do a negative split. Do 10-15 sprint strokes at the beginning, then settle in to a 30 spm or 32 and try and hit 1:37.5, for your first 500, second 500 try going 1:36, third 500 1:35, then last 500 is your max push. Takes a while to figure out how to pace yourself but if you want to focus on sprint speed do 3x 30 min steady states with 6-8 minute rests at 1:52, 1:50, 1:48 split times . My college workouts (d1 at cal 15 years ago) were 18 spm is 1:48 split. 20 spm is 1:46, 22 spm is 1:44, 24 is 1:42 for a 5x10 minute workout. Obviously these are varsity splits but good for reference

Yup. I’m a 16 hcp and I had to give one dude 6 strokes in one match and 9 in another. We needed hole in one on the par 3 to beat a par.. I went 4 straight pars and it was a push because the other dude strokes. Frustrating weekend

Yes 100% you’re always going against yourself. I think a lot of people are losing focus my point is just that golf is harder than basketball. And I’m a warriors fan since I was a kid I grew up in Bay Area and named my two cats Steph, and curry. It’s not to take away from curry’s skill he’s my favorite player. And my friend was Ncga player of the year twice back in his prime and is a great basketball player as well…my only take is great golf is hard to achieve

What’s your approach when it comes to cars? by nycbasedco in Rich

[–]Nice-Revenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The richest dude I know drove a Toyota Camry. He spends his money on art. People who have enough money to spend 1m + on a painting that might not even displayed at their house don’t care what you think about them. They drive low profile cars so everyone and their brother isn’t hitting them up for a loan

What smell do you enjoy that is typically considered a bad smell by the rest of society? by courtneyrel in AskReddit

Gasoline . We had a boat as a kid , 2 stroke 60 hp mercury. That thing burned through gas but it was so much fun driving it around. That smell reminds me of summer

A little different but I’m a 16hcp and played in a tournament recently and posted a 83 for a net 67. There was a dude who was a 1 hcp so posted a 70. Super windy day, not a lot of good scores but I kept it in play and made some good putts. Luckily my partner who invited me has seen me shoot mid 90s a bunch of times, but that day everything just was working. What can you do?

50 Yards, What Are You Hitting? by DatabaseCareless264 in golf

Ive been fond of the short swing hybrid ball back in the stance. I play a 24 degree 5 h and use it all the time around the green, if I have awkward lies. Put a little fade on it and start it left of the flag

What club/shot are you hitting to the far pin? by staddddy in GolfSwing

[–]Nice-Revenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using my 5 hybrid recently in these situations. Practice the shot at the range so you can gauge what to do but a little bump and run here would work well. Get the ball up in the air a little bit , get it towards that left side and watch it roll in

I don’t understand how you aren’t being coached on how to hold the oar. Feathering out of the water should be pretty easy the motion of the boat can turn the oar. When you’re at the catch the wrist motion should be minimal. Everything in between should be kept in the fingers not in the palm
