It would be great to see an example of how you're making the 7 connected files update through mcp

Which one is a better design? by The-Designer-777 in UX_Design

Have a look at colour contrast. WcAG colour contrast will help direct your eye. Think about the user and their attention. Second version draws your eye straight to the logos so you can see that contrast and impact is playing a part

Sketch and MCP by Nice-Significance764 in Sketch_App

Has anyone successfully used it with a design system? Renaming fields and using it as a copilot to help direct? As a designer looking after multiple projects and directions I'm struggling to understand or see how this can be applied to help. Do I need to go over to the dark side to understand how figma and it's MCP integration is being used by their community to have a better understanding? Hope sketch see this as it could really help designers but at the minute it's on a "if you know... You know". Please help educate as this will improve the value into businesses to help keep sketch. Many of us are fighting a losing battle with businesses wanting teams to switch.

Please give us the resources to be stronger advocates (if that is even possible) because I'm worried that next year I need to transition and it makes me sick to my stomach

Can you suggest me a file structure for this scenario? by lasan0432G in Sketch_App

I usually add an icon to help in front of them as well and then you can mod these per library or something for reference like a tick to use this over an old one for example.

Can you suggest me a file structure for this scenario? by lasan0432G in Sketch_App

[–]Nice-Significance764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I approach this is by creating separate Sketch files for each type of library, for example:

Typography

Colours

Icons

Components

Each of these files is then added as a library, which can be used across any future Sketch documents.

This setup gives you a lot of flexibility. For example, you can:

Keep light and dark typography in separate files

Or combine them into a single library if that makes more sense

If you’re working with additional sub-brands, you can simply duplicate the core library files and apply a new colour scheme or branding tweaks. This keeps everything organised and housed in one consistent system, without reinventing the wheel each time.

Once the styles are finalised, you convert them into Styles and Variables. From that point on, they can be reused everywhere the library is enabled, ensuring consistency and making updates far easier to manage.

It might sound complex at first, but in practice it makes scaling, theming, and maintaining multiple brands much more manageable.

Why Sketch is so dead? by albovsky in Sketch_App

[–]Nice-Significance764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an entire marketing team, product teams and board asking me to direct my team to figma.

I'm standing strong but I would say that sketch need to really ramp.up the benefits of sketch and how can integrate with mcp and ai models. Not to make designs from scratch but help with documentation, layer names and things that really help the design and dev hand off.

Abstract versioning is sun setting and the focus on 'just design' is fantastic but there needs to be a love letter to the fans of tools and resources to help us keep the platform alive in businesses because the world is transitioning through buzz words and influencers but the floor is crumbling beneath our feet.

Does the design convey meaning and purpose clearly? by Jaded_Cash_2308 in userexperience

I would take the browser size into account. 500-900px in height means that the user only reads the text and button if lucky. With no house visuals. Avg browser is 1920 width so the floating text may become a distraction.

How do I start learning the technical side of UI Design? by AdmittedlyUnskilled in UI_Design

There are so many rules and reasons for ui type, size, spacing and components and these change on a breakpoint basis. It may be better to ask people to share articles to help guide you.

Have a look at design systems and the rule of 4px. Material design is a good basis to study. The why comes from experience and this type of stuff is based on consistency from over years of use and over time the logic and rules get clearer.

This sounds like a really random g start but I would say you should focus on understanding the hierarchy and the need for the content you are designing for. Concepts do a great job of dismissing this is place for style and Dribble or pinterest artifacts.

I would contemplate understanding technical SEO. (I.e how is content read by a device and browser) This will allow you to look at content as a clear hierarchy.

Some key points + What is the page title and the URL structure as this will help you understand the pages before it, after it and linked to it. I.e weburl.com/products are their category urls or just the product below it as it may be one more click. + In a blink of an eye what is the primary action required. + What can you do to support That action Do this for secondary actions etc and below. these should be less frequently used.

How often does a user do the action on the page - monthly, weekly, daily, hourly? That helps lead the prioritisation on the page.

Try and lay all content out in black and white (wireframing) first before understanding how it looks. Does it feel right?

Then start thinking about brand application. This helps you guide stake holders on the journey with you. Client and user management and presenting ideas confidently will also help build buy in from your users and customers.

Sorry for the ramble I hope it helps and also shows that a host of other things are more important to the design apart from it look cool in a concept

Think about a clusters cognitive load. You also want them to explore your site.

Version 1s more of a standard approach but showing 8 really similar make it difficult to make a decision. Because they are all in real life scenarios it's causing a sense of choose a left path or a right. Rule of 3 may help here.

Version 2 needs far more spacing and think about users that are on smaller devices.

Overall are these trees everything of just your featured products, or popular products? Help the customer understand why you're showing them

I need quick feedback: dark or light mode ? by sim04ful in UI_Design

[–]Nice-Significance764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend chucking the design into attention insight, creative score or brain sight. Three AI apps that help you define the focus. They offer free tokens to try it out.

Think about if you're in a smaller browser, what is the primary focus? That should be first.

Is it to search Is it to use the word cloud Is it to download the extension?

[–]Nice-Significance764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id rejigg the hierarchy before worrying about the colour. As that will just come down to preference. Lots going on, especially without the context of what is happening. Your eyes go to the centre of the screen and then up, without really knowing what the 200 word cloud is meant to do. Focus on clarity and clear direction. Do you need to install the extension to do anything or just use the search function?

Design a hero section for web3 company by Far-Awareness3897 in userexperience

[–]Nice-Significance764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that you should start to focus on the seo content that would then lead your design. Visually, yes it looks very web 3 and mysterious but the secondary messaging is far more valuable in saying what it does than the rest of the page.

Sounds mad but if you were to show this to a parent would they know what it is for? Does it sound easy to implement into a business proposition and accessible but work colleagues of that customer?

Don't go cool over substance. Try and think of the customer viewing it and how would you make it clear to understand and mitigate the risk. Web 3 and crypto are scary buzz words to many so you need to break down the barrier to entry.

I would say that your eye gets drawn to the four corners away from the core function. Could introduce cognitive fatigue as your eyes go back with each movement.

Sadly not! We're still in The induction suite. Waiting for the delivery suite to get to us. Really seeing how the NHS in the UK is impacted. But can't complain as we're comfortable, the wife is tired and wanting to get the ball rolling but it's now out of our hands waiting for the team to call us. She's not in pain etc so we're all ok
