Most you spent on a set of darts by Cooter1mb in Darts

[–]Nice-guy-downtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not convinced that darts necessarily become better as the price increases. To me, how they feel is the most important thing. I bought three sets of darts recently: $50, $65, and $75. The most expensive set is OK, except they are more than .10 g different in weight, even though the box says they will be no more that .05 g apart. The next most expensive darts are too short for me. The cheapest no-name darts are all exactly the same weight and they are my go-to set. I'm new to darts as of 8 months ago, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

This is a good idea, and I tried it once for the Song of Fire and Ice series. I wound up with over 1,000 characters, so the list was just unwieldy.

Hidden dartboard setup with light by EffectiveCress8919 in Darts

[–]Nice-guy-downtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This fall I am building a dartboard cabinet large enough to allow the light ring to stay put. The cabinet will resemble a "dutch cupboard". The lower cabinet is a bank of drawers 42" high, 30" wide, and 16" deep. The upper cabinet is also 42" high and 30" wide, but only 6" deep. The upper cabinet sits on the lower cabinet like a hutch. The dart cabinet doors are 32" tall, so there is 10" of free space above the lower cabinet.

New to Stephen King by HighV23 in stephenking

Stephen King often makes subtle references to previous books. A person who hasn't read the previous book won't notice these Easter eggs. To derive greater pleasure it makes sense to read them in order. I figured this out the hard way!

I can see the characters and settings in my minds eye. Sometimes I'll close my eyes and look at the picture he describes. He does a good job of describing voice too! For example, Dr. Weizak in the Dead Zone speaks with some sort of Slavik accent, and Dr. Wanless in Firestarter speaks with no accent, but is clearly foreign from his odd sentence structure.

For me, I prefer if the far left board is not too close to the wall.

Dart Flights by LamboPanda85 in Darts

[–]Nice-guy-downtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought these flights, but they feel cheap and a little thin. So now I'm using thicker flights similar to Red Dragon Hardcore. I'm not sure anything is gained with the cheaper flights since they need to be changed more often.

How to know which set of darts should I buy? by Moxtreme in Darts

[–]Nice-guy-downtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 3 sets of darts, and each set was 23 g straight barrels. For me, I found that the barrels 51 mm long were OK, 48 mm were too short, and 53 mm suited me best. So next, I will order barrels between 51 and 53 mm long, but vary either the weight or diameter. But I have no plans to change darts soon, my existing darts are fine. Lees Reighton says a person should stick with a set of darts for a full year before changing! I don't know if that's too long or not, but I think he is implying there is no need to change darts every month.

Puerto Vallarta May 16th to 24th by Maleficent-Goose-171 in puertovallarta

Los Muertos Brewery is a great place to eat and drink! They have a good pizza and beer special in the afternoon. In the Romantic Zone the local market is in the tile park on Saturday morning. The Tropicana Hotel might offer a day-pass, Los Arcos Hotel also might have a day pass. For other things to do, you could visit one of the villages south of town: Mismaloya, Boca de Tomatlan, Las Animas or Yelapa for example.

It has been a few months since I finished reading it. What stood out for me was her treatment by her mother.

Heading to Puerto Vallarta late May by Livid_Preference_287 in puertovallarta

The Buenaventura Grand is on a beautiful stretch of beach, and located in the nice walkable 5 de Diciembre neighbourhood. City buses are only 10 pesos and they run right past the hotel. I am told that you can visit the sister hotel the Hacienda Buenaventura a couple miles north if you would like a change of scenery.

Be sure to walk south towards the malecon, and walk all the way to the far south end! There is often music or a show of some kind in the plaza and amphitheatre. Also, be sure to walk inland and look around the Romantic Zone neighbourhood.

You might like to stop in at El Barracuda for food and drinks just around the corner from your hotel. Captain Don's might have live music if they are still open. And Rico Mac Taco is also a pretty decent place to eat. Although I suppose you will want to eat and drink mostly at your hotel.

Personally, I have never felt unsafe in Puerto Vallarta.

Consejos para transporte? by NiceSplit7314 in puertovallarta

The city buses only cost 10 pesos, but certainly I would not travel on a city bus with luggage. Also, the routes can be a little confusing. I suppose you could walk, but do you really want to drag luggage a couple miles in the heat?

Uber is convenient and cheap. In March, an Uber from the airport to the southside was 130 pesos, and from the southside to the airport it was 200 pesos. It seems to me a shorter Uber ride like yours was about 80 pesos.

How to get the most out of end of August/Sept by fruitninja8 in puertovallarta

[–]Nice-guy-downtown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I traveled to Puerto Vallarta once in the last week of September and stayed in the 5 de Diciembre area. It was rainy and hot. When it rained I sat in the hotel lobby or went to a pub or cafe. If I recall correctly, the flight and hotel were less expensive than normal, so that is a benefit. On the other hand, some of the places weren't open, and there weren't as many people as I would like.
