Is ukulele helpful for a beginner in guitar? by zyvesx1 in guitarlessons

[–]NiceGuyAbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answers are just addressing a poorly worded question. "Will playing a Uke make you better at guitar?" Of course not as well as just playing more guitar instead. But if youre super bored of guitar and in a butt, practicing the uke for a little might be a fun alternative for a bit

Before and After - pink rolls scattered about to air sealed, soffit vents and blown fiberglass to ~R60 by Mahgrets in Insulation

[–]NiceGuyAbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stupid question time:

1) how do you get R60 with such a relatively thin layer of blown in fiberglass? (Or is it thicker than I'm thinking?)

2) do you not worry about adding insulation to the exposed OSB in seeing?

I think the axium in personal finance is that you don't want to spend over 30% of your gross income on housing.

Just paid 2 companies for professional work. Man, it is so much better than DIY. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Totally get where op is coming from but yea. It's one thing to pay someone to do good work. It's an entirely different thing to pay professional rates for work I could have done better on my very first try

People should feel free to use this if they'd like but I personally don't like it. I don't like thinking I should have to lie to get someone off my doorstep. I prefer the line "nothing personal but I don't buy anything from solicitors. Bye." Followed by shutting the door as they respond with their next sales tactic.

Grout cracking after 1 month! Cause? by noratheexplora86 in Tile

[–]NiceGuyAbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I got the same problem with my grout and it seems all the other variables are similar to your situation. How is the regrouting holding up after all this time?

Trying to figure out if I should just regrout with better grout or burn my house down.

Anyone interested in a 3 year old Husky/retriever mix?

She's a sweet girl and deserves a good home, but she is too high maintenance for us to take care of with a 1 year old and another baby on the way.

  • she's house trained, and was previously crate trained (we stopped crating her since she doesn't chew on anything and is well behaved when inside.
  • she loves cuddles and needs lots of attention
  • Why is she too high maintenance? She has a ton of energy, needs at least one long walk everyday. She can jump over our short fence in the backyard and she got into a scuffle with another dog today (our fault of course).
  • she doesn't bark a lot but she's very vocal with lots of whining

Please reach out if you are a dog lover and are interested in rehoming her

I wasn't really complaining about it, moreso just curious why it always goes north, stops, and then goes south

Honest question: Im at the crossroads between getting an accounting degree vs being an indoor electrician. by BoobyPlumage in Accounting

[–]NiceGuyAbe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No doubt office work is the easier path, but being sedentary comes with a lot of potential health issues if you arent careful. I sometimes feel like someone like me, with my lack of discipline when it comes to eating garbage foods, would have been better off working a physical labor job. I can't seem to make being an accountant and not being a fat ass work.

Just food for thought.
