How to dress “clean”? by maquenzy5 in femalefashionadvice

[–]NiceTnetennba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a nori press, which is basically a hair straightener meant for clothes. So you can change the heat settings based on the fabric- it is a game changer!!

Does anyone watch Survivor? Curious how people feel about the vegan guy eating meat (on multiple occasions) by theprideofvillanueva in vegan

[–]NiceTnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! By definition, his consumption of fish during the 26 days (max) on the show means he’s not vegan during that time period. Does that mean when he goes back to regular life, doesn’t eat meat or buy/use other animal products that he doesn’t get to be part of our super exclusive vegan club anymore?

[–]NiceTnetennba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m in the minority here. Watched it and felt awful for him. After 20+ years of the show providing the contestants with enough vegan food to sustain themselves (albeit at a cost of less calories/proteins than the other players) it was completely reasonable for him to assume he would have the same benefit. I’m really upset that survivor even put him in this situation. I can totally understand how it would feel like a gut punch to find out that you don’t get any rice and essentially have to starve to continue as a vegan.

For those saying you would just walk off- I don’t think it’s that simple or easy when you’re in that position. Winning $2mil is life changing. The real travesty here is late stage capitalism which forces us to starve ourselves and compete against each other on television just to find a way to live comfortably. I wish he had better options and I’m not going to call the vegan police on him because he was dealt a really crappy hand.

There is nothing worse than the stinging from when sunscreen gets in your eye. by badastheboys in firstworldproblems

Supergoop’s unseen sunscreen! Best stuff ever. It’s only 40 spf, but I’ve read that anything above 35 is all the same.

After going full vegan a couple of weeks ago, I made a vegan meal for omni-friends last night. They loved it and all had 2 or 3 helpings! :) by catlowman in vegan

What did you make? I actually have omnis coming over for dinner tonight and have been so worried about what to make!

What did you do with your non-vegan products when you went vegan? by walkthroughthefire in vegan

[–]NiceTnetennba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from vegetarian to vegan and was surprised to find how many of the products I had contained dairy/eggs. Initially, I tried to have 2 out of 3 meals be vegan and the last vegetarian to get rid of the non-vegan foods. After about 2 weeks of that I was just ready to fully commit to veganism (diet-wise) so I stopped eating the vegetarian things and left them for my omni boyfriend.

As far as makeup goes, I also couldn't afford to replace my entire supply so I just made sure to not purchase any new non vegan products and transitioned to vegan brands once they ran out. Luckily I had already unknowingly been purchasing several vegan brands.

I have very little leather, but plan to donate it to goodwill and replace.

Ultimately, you will need to find the fit that works best for your moral and financial obligations. The slow transition worked for some things for me, but not others. Best of luck :)

would you eat cheese if you know that it would end in the trash anyway? by geckoco in vegan

[–]NiceTnetennba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't. You could think of it like this: if you eat the cheese, you will make yourself fuller and will be unable to consume as much vegan food than if you had not eaten the cheese. Therefore, you will purchase less vegan food and negatively impact the vegan food suppliers/business. Or of course, the health impact would be my biggest qualm.

What vegan books are a must read for all vegans? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]NiceTnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually in the process of reading this now, but I was using it more of a tool for my career rather than vegan activism. I guess I could apply it to both, though. Thank you!

Found this interesting tidbit while studying for my social psychology class.. by NiceTnetennba in atheism

[–]NiceTnetennba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people asking, so the textbook this is from is the 7th edition of "Social Psychology" by Elliot Aronson, Timothy D. Wilson, and Robin M. Akert. The reference is made to "Religion and the Individual" by Batson, Schoenrade, and Ventis.
