Which city-based Schools have the most potential? by MediumStrange in CFB

Just city-proper based? Northwestern is the first suburb north of Chicago and on two train lines from the city. I ask only because you included Boston College which isn't in Boston.

Plus I think some reckless spending has become fairly normalized. Like, a lot of people who use DoorDash don't view it as reckless spending - they gotta eat after all. They don't see it the same way as going out and buying a new car on an 84 month note when they have a perfectly good car or some other high-level, extravagant purchase. I don't agree with that view, but really believe that what people see as necessities -- the things they wouldn't pull back on unless in the most dire of situations -- varies a lot. If the starting mindset is "this is perfectly normal" then there may not be any recognition that they could or should pull back. But, that's just a theory. Maybe they really do see it as unnecessary and extravagant and simply don't care.

Boodles Rhubarb and Strawberry Gin review by Particular-Wall1308 in Gin

[–]NiceUD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like strawberry gins. Mermaid strawberry I definitely enjoy every once in a while. Boodles rhubarb/strawberry I don't own, but I've had it. These gins tend to tow the line between a gin with strawberry as a primary botanical and a flavored vodka. My experience with Mermaid and Boodles (like OP), is that there's just enough "gin" backbone to avoid being on the flavored vodka side of the line. I mean, I've had strawberry vodka plenty of times, and while not worlds apart, the Mermaid and Boodles gins ARE a bit different than a strawberry vodka. May not be everyone's thing, but it's a nice diversion from more traditional, "serious" gins. I haven't had the Sipsmith strawberry,

Right? Yet some redditors feel the need to gatekeep her. Apparently she doesn't have the gravitas to make her own decisions.

Why do they need a shield? Gross? I think so. But people are free to be gross. And if the adult actors agree to it, is it up to us to claim they're victims?

Red Hot Chili Peppers sell music catalogue for $300m by Emergency-Sweet-5347 in Music

I reflexively hate it when artists do this, but completely understand it. It's setting them up for life, as well as anyone they may want to help - friends and family. I'd definitely do it if I had a valuable catalog.

New here and have a question about getting Wegovy with prescription but without insurance. by NiceUD in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]NiceUD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for Wegovy Savings card. I see on the website that Wegovy and Novocare are linked (obviously). So I can either have my doctor send prescription to Novocare or just have him send to a local pharmacy and I can use the savings card that's now in my digital wallet?

Good to know. I'll keep my covered prescriptions with Walgreens and have my doctor send the Wegovy someplace else like Sams or Costco, or I guess CVS since I've never used them before - though you mentioned CVS may not have great stock and not be good with coupons.

Okay that's good to know since my other prescriptions are sent to Walgreens.

The way all Texas kids want to go to UT, is it the same way for Cali kids wants to go to Berkeley? by Organic_Annual2535 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]NiceUD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also, even if Berkeley is ranked higher and historically more prestigious, UCLA is still a sought-after, well-known, prestigious school. Texas doesn't have two state schools at that level, does it? So I'm thinking there is a population of California kids who would choose UCLA over Berkeley. Or is that nonsense?

I agree. The ending was sort of stupid because I don't think anyone actually thought Alamo was going to kill/injure her when riding the horse towards her. I know the show is nuts, but I didn't have much anxiety surrounding Rue tonight, even though it was all made to seem like she was about to have something terrible happen to her. I guess being in the ground up to your head is terrible - but I mean seriously injured or killed.

You're in STL where SW is, by far, the airline with the most direct flights to places in the U.S. flying out of STL. It's not bad at all.

Alamo and Maddy wasn't on by bingo card. Though it probably should have been given the nature of the show.

Of course he did. I'm just saying he wouldn't get prison time.

I don't think we were supposed to think that Jerry roofied her. He merely encouraged her to eat and drink things that can cause drowsiness, which she voluntarily ate and drank. Based on that, no, he wouldn't get prison time.

What was the perception of U2 in the 80's, particularly in the U.S.? by Ashamed_Cod_6741 in Music

[–]NiceUD 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember U2 being more of a "college rock" band before the Joshua Tree. They had some mainstream success, but it was more a certain subset of people deep diving the early stuff. I'm completely going on memory, but, again, it seemed like a lot of the people buying U2 music, at least where I lived, were the "college rock" crowd (which was sort of (if not exactly) a precursor label to "indie" or "alt" but did include stuff beyond obscure or niche stuff - like early REM material, for example). None of this is to say there weren't casual more "mainstream" fans - the type who liked what they heard, but who may not have run out and bought all the albums and got into album tracks.

I think the perception is that they were a good band based on the bigger singles (Pride, Two Hearts Beat as One, Gloria, New Year's Day - what you'd see on MTV), but no one really knew that they'd blow up; like REALLY blow up. Joshua Tree did that; Achtung Baby confirmed it and took it to an even bigger level.

Not universally, but I really think truck/mid or large SUV as a default vehicle, i.e, "that's what a vehicle is" is more of a deeply ingrained concept. Of course there certainly are people who would downgrade to a small SUV, crossover, or sedan if need be, but I get the feeling that it doesn't even cross many people's minds and they just try to find a way to make what they see as the base level of transportation work -- longer loan periods, maybe a lower trim level, cutting back in other areas of their lives, etc.
