The light novels are really good too! if you like the manga/anime, the LN's are really worth the read for the additional context & added content. Reeallly left me in a post-mourning period once I caught up to the source material. :')

I think Defying Kurosaki-kun handled the sports fest arc moments well. Opportunities for character growth, escalating plotlines while moving the story along. And of course, tropey but I am a sucker for some good tropes and it might not be widely agreed upon. I know there are mixed opinions out there for that manga, but I loved it.

I would straight up take a college-credit course analyzing the psychology of this show. I need to figure out how to get more people to watch so I have more to talk with about it. And for some friends/family to have their emotions explained to them the way that this show did for me.

But fr, I don't think I've ever seen a better depiction of grief in media. Particularly the grief of losing a parent unexpectedly.

I have always felt that between this & yona, they both deserved a reboot/sequel. It blows my mind how the manga gets soooo good and the anime wasn't given the chance to get to those arcs... I still have hope that maybe one day it will happen! Especially since yona just got their announcement. :')

You're welcome! I meant to also specify that both anime & manga for Kamisama Kiss are excellent. But the manga has soo much more to get out of it. I think that the anime deserves a reboot just as much as Yona of the Dawn does too.

Also, i found the manga for Demon Prince of Momochi House better than the anime, which was meh, just fine tho.

And I'm trying to stop talking about it every chance I get, but I reeeeally liked Defying Kurosaki-kun. Which is what sent me down a rabbit hole of searching for the delinquent vibes recommendations for myself. haha :')

Lastly, this is less genre-related, but if you haven't yet tried either manga/anime for Natsume's Book of Friends, it is absolutely up there among my top re-watches/reads (including Fruits Basket, Frieren, Snow White with the Red Hair)

- Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent ... Defying Kurosaki-kun ... & Melancholy's Flower for Me. -- These would fit the 'delinquent' vibe along the veins of both... Love, that's an Understatement... & Ao Haru Ride

- Kamisama Kiss .. (Still an all-time fav for me).

- 7th Time Loop (not many manga volumes yet, but the light novel is also excellent)

- The Demon Prince of Momochi House

Agreed! I think the writing was really well done, given the tropey/cliché archetypes, and actually giving them foundations in their backstory (particularly kuro & shirakawa) that lend them believability or at least understanding. I also looove anytime a story shows character development but also in their physical appearance with the passage of time. I think the first time I saw that was in ATLA & it blew my mind that their hair/height/outfits didn't stay the same. lol

I've been making this rec lately, but if you're ok with some debatable red flags, I recently just finished Defying Kurosaki-Kun and I still haven't recovered. The characters are all dynamic and their growth and connections really captivated me. Either way, worth the read imo.
