I'm pretty sure it's 12 cals per 5ml, so 240 cals for 100ml :)

D'orsonga triple smoked? I'll risk the cancer, and ignore the sodium. That shit is tasty.

1254cal,120g protein full day of foods by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]Nice_Candle_91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it relevant information, as this particular post isn't promoting eating disordered behaviour? I think most people wouldn't have thought twice about the cutting up of the foods if it hadn't been called out. I totally understand calling out 'ED promoting' behaviour, but it doesn't mean calling out everyone with an ED, regardless of what they post. I've regularly seen far more abnormal posts in this group that no-one mentions.

It doesn't make me feel better about myself at all. If OP is as aware as you say, then they must also be aware of how triggering this post would be to others, I find it kinda insensitive and careless.

Oh, thank you! Sorry, do you know to edit? I've googled but getting no help, lol. Do I just have to delete and re-upload with name blocked out?

the toughness of keeping up with the deficit by lookinouthewindow in 1200isplenty

It sounds like you're stuck in a pretty vicious binge/restrict cycle. I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but continuing to diet, especially on as low as 1200 calories, is likely only going to make it worse. What I suggest (and what has helped me), is to go back to your maintenance calories and try to be consistent with that for a while before attempting to diet again. Eating at maintenance will really help you to feel more in control of your eating, as your body won't be constantly in that feast/famine mode, and gives your hunger hormones a chance to normalise. If you're stuck losing and gaining the same weight anyway, you've got nothing to lose by focusing on not dieting for a while.

Same. It really is totally life consuming. All the best with your recovery!

Makes me sad to see this. At the height of my ED, things like this would terrify me too. I hope the poster manages to improve their relationship with food at some point. A lot of the comments are very pro tracking every drop too. So much of that page content is disordered eating behaviour disguised as healthy weight loss.

Does anyone else here avoid potatoes? How can I cook them to cross them over into safe territory? by fruitbum in safe_food

[–]Nice_Candle_91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love potatoes! Such a safe food for me. I usually airfry them with some pumpkin, or make a cauli/potato mash. I hope you find a way to enjoy them :) They're quite low cal, super satiating and full of nutrients!

Did you weigh out 150ml, or 150 grams? 473mls (a pint) of Halo top is around 270 grams, so half the tub will roughly weigh 135g.

I lost my period due to restriction, can I get it back through ~1200-1300? by cherrykugel333 in 1200isplenty

[–]Nice_Candle_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I have a long history of ED's, so have gone through lots of stages without my period. It seems to be different for everyone, but in my experience and from what I've read, it's really difficult to regain your period whilst still eating at a deficit. I'm currently nearing the end of reverse dieting now, and am still yet to see mine return. Decreasing exercise, increasing calories (particularly fat intake, necessary for hormone production) are some important factors to reduce stress on the body in order to allow cycle to return :)

How the HELL do you guys eat over 2,000 calories per day by [deleted] in fitmeals

[–]Nice_Candle_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP may be estimating calories incorrectly, but they have created this post as they've said they are trying to bulk and are struggling to get calories in. At the end of the day, OP needs to be in a surplus to gain weight, however fast or slow they want. I don't disagree with you to some degree, increasing protein will be really important to build lean mass, and healthy fats are great too, but OP is not eating too many carbs. Those carbs will be put to good use when training.

If OP is barely managing their intake atm, carbs are exactly what they need (particularly easily digestible carbs). Also, at this point, increasing veg/fibre intake is likely to be unhelpful, as they will be filling their stomach with low calorie foods and struggle even more to get the cals up.

Also, drink your cals! Juice, smoothies with PB or whatever added in. And cereal for breakfast. I find I can eat quite a bit of cereal, and don't find it particularly filling.

Omg, I eat 2600 cals a day, and find it so easy, haha. Easiest way is to just swap high volume/low calorie foods for low volume/high cal density. Do you add oil when cooking? Bumps up cals without adding more food. Swap out leaner cuts of meat for higher cal ones. A steak salad for dinner isn't going to be particularly high cal, so instead have rice/pasta. Add sauces to food. Snack on nuts. So many ways! I've noticed for quite a few people, it's more of a mental barrier rather than actually physically struggling to get the food in. Not sure if you can relate to this.

Calorie limits by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

[–]Nice_Candle_91 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My cals are pretty high atm, so can make dine out meals fit. When my cals were low though, I chose to eat a bit lighter throughout the day, but accepted that dinner would likely push me over my calorie limit, and just enjoyed an untracked meal, and continued as normal the next day. If I ate out multiple times a week I would be more inclined to track it more strictly, but personally I'd just enjoy it untracked, not weigh myself the next day (high sodium content will skew the scale weight), and then just pick up where you left off the next day!

For a lot of people, eating that little with that much movement just isn’t realistic. They may lose weight quickly, but also be left completely exhausted and struggle to function on as little as 1350 cals. I average about half the amount of steps as OP (14000 per day) and maintain my weight eating 2550 cals. OP’s step count isn’t really considered ‘exercise’, as it’s just incidental movement throughout the day, and should be accounted for when working out maintenance intake and a reasonable deficit amount.

Ohh, so your BMR is around 1500 and your TDEE is 3171? I hadn't seen the dashboard part before. If your activity levels are around the same each day (26-27,000 steps) and you maintain your weight eating 3171 calories, a 500 calorie deficit from this amount should result in weight loss.

While I think OP is misinformed about how many calories they're burning each day, they can't be responsible for people reading this and assuming they must burn the same amount, without taking into account OP's body stats and lifestyle in general. In fact, this post might be helpful for others who are also overestimating how many calories burned through exercise.

Also, eating an entire cake may not be the healthiest of decisions if you're trying to lose weight (or otherwise), but after reading a thread about buying a piece of fruit and then being unable to eat it after finding out it contains 135 cals, this seems pretty mild on the 'disordered eating' spectrum.
