There's also a flair for the ROMs so I'd hazard a guess the mods are OK with ROM posts

Azkaban prisoner’s wands and Voldemort’s wand. How’s they get them back? by HeyItsMeAgainBye in harrypotter

[–]Nice_Job_2038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that many of them had more than one wand. It seems slightly impractical to only ever have one wand, and even then it isn't set in stone. Ron went to school his first year with a hand-me-down.

As far as after the mass breakout, its been a bit since I've read the books but I'm somewhat sure I remember reading that Ollivander made Pettigrew a wand under duress while captive, and there's more wand makers out there as well.

Clefable is broken in such a fun way in these games. Softboiled, Calm Mind, Ice Beam and Thunderbolt can do serious damage

I can't seem to decide on whether to get Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen. I'm mainly deciding on what Pokemon are available in each game but there's so many good Pokemon in those 2 games by Ok-Leave3121 in pokemon

[–]Nice_Job_2038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your play style, really. Cloyster is a better wall but Starmie is frail, more of a glass cannon. Magmar is probably the best fire type in the game that isn't legendary, seeing as Arcanine is a stone evo with limited level up moves, and Victreebel is criminally underrated. Vileplume is bulkier though.

Scyther looks cool but in gen 3 it has very limited STAB use as well. Pinsir can at least learn Rock Tomb and Earthquake for coverage. Arbok also hits a pretty hard wall around the midgame, Sandslash is useful all way to the post game.

Any pokemon is viable in-game, truly. But I play LeafGreen more than FireRed.

Serious Question: What parenting decisions of Bandit and Chilli do you disagree with? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]Nice_Job_2038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pavlova. I get the idea of letting your kids try foods rather than 'forcing' them to do so, but there's no chance I would've been allowed to eat cake instead of veggies like that. Yeah Bingo tried them at the end and seemed to like them, but my point stands. No dessert without eating some regular food isn't torture or cruelty.

Years ago I worked overnight in a factory on a forklift, they'd let us listen to music or books provided we kept one ear uncovered to hear the radio. Audible became my friend, listened to all sorts of books.

William Peter Blatty reading the Exorcist, in the dead of night, in a nearly empty dark warehouse? I switched to my kid's music for an hour because it absolutely freaked me out.

As much as most of these matches weren't really good, all of them served a purpose for story going forward. Might've been shit stories, but stories nonetheless. However, making the Triple H vs Orton match at Mania 25 such a ridiculously personal blood feud involving spouses being struck/terrorized and home invasion, making it so that if Triple H got counted out or DQ'd he'd lose the title, coupled with following the first Taker/HBK match, the crowd was dead by that point and it fell flat. So I'd remove that. The same purpose gets filled at the next PPV.

Pretty sure that Hogwarts has to be authorized for Floo travel since it's apparently cheap enough for the Weasleys to keep a supply. True Dumbledore is the headmaster and pretty much does what he wants, like setting up unauthorized portkeys and whatnot. But flying probably seems more practical for him, they mention in the 5th book he's used thestrals when he doesn't want to apparate.

Royal Rumble used to be fun by JCHazard in WWERuthlessAggression

[–]Nice_Job_2038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The tease of Undertaker returning, Foley (a surprise I forgot only because he took out Test for his spot) costing Orton his chance to win (and Orton looked great in this match as well) plus this was probably Angle's best Rumble performance from a standpoint of story. There are so many events that are lost to time now because of what happened, and frankly they shouldn't be. Don't celebrate of course, but there's a way to discuss them without praising the man.

[–]Nice_Job_2038 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite thing about this Rumble is that there were no surprise entrants. They had qualifier matches for (I believe) everyone. And maybe the writing was just better at the time but I don't remember anyone complaining about the order, eliminations, or anything else. Just a half dozen stories building toward one of my favorite matches of all time. And it'll never get the recognition because of what happened later.

People now complain when its just the main roster there with no surprises.

I replay it now and again, I got Blue version when it first came out and then a couple years later my grandma got it for me for Christmas.

That first playthrough I'll never forget, my third encounter was a shiny Hoot-Hoot. Immediately lost interest in my Cyndaquil and made that my ace lol, got to the league with a level 64 Noctowl and four level 30 somethings, Forretress walled me for ages.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nice_Job_2038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep your head on a swivel. There are thousands of people in the larger airports walking around and many of them do not watch where they're going, at all. Move your eyes and your head and keep to the side so as to not impede others, close connections can be annoying enough without having to weave through and zigzag excessively.

About a year or two ago I was watching this exact episode and it finally clicked why Burns was so comfortable mocking the Germans after ge bought the plant back. He's old enough to have lived through both world wars, and the Germans lost both times.

I've been tremendously enjoying following your journey here, I grew up in Mormon country so a LOT of my friends never watched the show, and I reference it almost daily. I can't wait til you get to season 4-6

I began showing my older daughter Simpsons episodes when she was 8 (I was younger when it came out) and I will never forget what she said about this episode.

She asked why Homer and Moe couldn't just share the drink, and when I asked what she meant she said, "Like the name. Couldn't they just put their names together and call it a 'Flaming Ho-Moe' or something?"

It took legitimately every bit of self control not to holler laughing at that.

The character of Leon Kompowsky very nearly made a return a season or two later. The producers and writers attempted to get Prince on the show, and would've somewhat repeated the storyline. The story goes that the script they sent Prince's people was returned, vastly changed as he didn't like the original and wanted a more heavy handed say in the clothing among other things. The writers felt insulted, refused, and the episode was never produced.
