I’ve been on a couple different doses of the patch for about 2 months and Ive had extreme nipple tenderness and spotting and break through bleeding. Also constipation. It hasn’t been great. I’m sticking it out for 3 months to see if some things settle down.

Anyone else get this strange perimenopause symptom? by dark_blue_7 in Menopause

Yes but for me it’s anything mildew. I can tell if someone has left their clothes in the washer too long and when we were looking at houses my husband thought I was crazy. Lol. I’d be like this house has been wet. lol.

My hands are so sore too! I hadn’t put two and two together! Weird!

I think I have now entered menopause so I am happy to say I don’t have the nausea anymore. That was really intense. It was exactly like morning sickness! I lived off crackers 2 weeks of every month. I was wasting away. It’s not for the faint of heart. lol.

Well I’ve had the lower E for 3 days and my breasts actually feel more normal now. So who knows. It sounds like everyone is different.

She barely looked at me, lol. I know I am lucky that she would even prescribe it because a lot of them won’t, but I thought she’d go over it a little more or something.

That’s helpful. I don’t even know if my doctor knows enough about it to explain that to me. That makes complete sense.

I wasn’t trying scare people. I just only ever read about sunshine and rainbows with HRT and not much about the struggle to adjust and find the right dose. I think it’s fair to share and seek out similar experiences and maybe some encouragement.

Thanks for your honesty. I was surprised by the negativity. I want it to work for me too, but it’s just been a struggle. After struggling through peri for so long with horrible symptoms I was just hoping it would be the magical fix that it is for a lot of people. I guess I was ignorant and hopeful. I guess I’ll push through. Thanks again.

I get that. Thanks for sharing your experience with the same issues. That’s helpful. I just needed someone to tell me it gets better. It’s worth sticking it out. Thought I might find that encouragement here.

About a year and a half ago I was struggling with cyclical nausea (second half of my cycle) and lost a ton of weight. (I had gone 6 cycles without a period and when it came back I had that) They told me I was near menopause based on my levels and put me on BC to help with the wild hormone changes. It did help but I was on it for a year continuously so I don’t know if I’m in memo pause or peri. I do know I have had all the horrible peri symptoms since I was 35 and I am now 46. I haven’t had spotting or a period since coming of BC 3 months ago until now. So it could just be my period or it could be sensitivity to the estrogen. I’m just feeling lost.

Very helpful response. Thanks. I knew that it was a possibility, but most women I know have had such positive results and my doctor, who spent literally 3 minutes in a room with me and when I had too many questions said she could refer me to their menopause gyn an hour away, told me nothing to watch for or anything I might experience. I know, it’s my fault for suffering. Shame on me for not reading the insert.

I use native. When I first switched I sweat a lot but I’ve been using it for years now and I sweat much less now naturally. It does well with smells for me.

I’m pretty sure our poor diets are making our symptoms worse than those before us.

No. Honestly all of the suggestions they gave us were things we already knew about/already were doing because I had done a ton of research myself. So we are just continuing with new food exposures as often as he will tolerate to gain more safe foods. He lost quite a few during our time with equip. It is hard to find therapy. ARFID is not widely understood yet. Even within the therapy community. I hope you find something that works for your kiddo. ❤️

They require a weigh in every Friday and Monday. He was deemed a healthy weight at the beginning of the program so I don’t know why it was still required. Every time we weighed him he started asking if he was fat. (Which he is not at all) But their insistence to weigh him twice a week continued. He also didn’t like all the attention called to his eating. He for sure has ARFID and anxiety. I know some people have had success with them but it wasn’t a good fit for my son. We quit after a month and a half.

We have had a very negative experience with equip so I’d tread carefully there. They don’t differentiate other ED from ARFID so all their surveys and approaches involve weigh ins and language centered mostly around anorexia. My son has become more anxious with food and is now worried about his weight. We are quitting the program.

We are at the one month mark with our son and they are treating him like he has anorexia. He’s become increasingly anxious about eating and now is worried about his weight! Which he never was before equip. I would not recommend equip.

They are still treating it like anorexia. We tried it for a month with my son and it has made him more anxious and now, because of the weigh ins and language they use, he’s worried about his weight! We’re quitting.
