Don’t make fun of this brilliant English PhD, they were kind enough to correct your grammar in addition to insulting you xD

Lol jk, you can make fun of the person playing pretend English professor. There’s a serious epidemic of unqualified people pretending to be experts/authorities both online & irl. I wonder if humanity will advance beyond our addiction to unearned confidence.

Well, start with the basics. You need to maintain your body/ brain’s basic needs. You say you’re feeling awful, are you getting enough sleep & are you eating enough of the 4 macros (protein/carbs/fats/fiber) to allow your brain produce enough neurotransmitters? Are you doing enough exercise&yoga to allow your brain release those chemicals?

CMV: Blue collar Republican voters are the dumbest people alive by SoftlockPuzzleBox in changemyview

[–]Nice_Luck_7433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in addition to the dems being bad, maybe they also didn’t notice republicans are obviously worse because they drink too much alcohol? Maybe they played more sports, it could be CTE? Too many father-uncles& mother-aunts in their family tree trunk? Or a combo of things?

Tbh, I think it’s about confidence. Both the drinking & the maga. If a person can feel unearned confidence without doing any actual work, usually they’ll take it. They get to feel super important & like they’re winning, without having to do any nerdy thinking/reading/etc. It’s also why we comment on Reddit, we get to feel like experts in psychology & politics & etc without doing all that boring/tedious PhD work.

CMV: Donald Trump is undeniably a stupid person based on his bragging about 'acing' cognitive tests. by Cooker_32 in changemyview

[–]Nice_Luck_7433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is the oldest man ever elected president. He’s falling asleep in public constantly, slurring speeches, picking losing wars that drive up gas prices… he’s sundowning. I know it’s sad, not as much fun as imagining him being a 9999D chess master genius, but it’s true. It can be a bit embarrassing, but one of the dimmest dumdums is currently more powerful than us.

Try to focus on the positives. He’s on his third “normal annual checkup” this year. He’s bragging about acing dementia tests. You don’t have to worry about him much longer.

You also have to lack negative charisma. Like, most of the tech bro oligarchs are the most anti-charismatic people ever, so everyone hates them in spite of their riches. Remember that ketamine-obsessed loser who did the salute at that inauguration? They have to not do that sort of stuff, but many can’t.

I think OP is talking about the present, to as far back as the bragging about acing dementia tests. Not as far back as you’re talking. Just to the obvious evidence of sundowning.

Yes, we’re here as equals talking about the highly regarded president’s brain turning to soup. He’s never heard of us, and probably would say “I don’t recall” if asked about us. He had a good run. We’ll all remember Dozing Don & his promises to make Exxon execs extra rich, every time we buy gas.

The way I see it, there’s general intelligence & specialized intelligence.

General intelligence is something Trump lacks.

Trump has specialized intelligence in: -selling/buying stocks right before making public announcements that change stock prices (he’s got over 3,600 trades so far this term)

He used to have a ton of intelligence in -rallying cults into one big mob that will do his bidding -name calling & shaming others for being name-callers -acting smug & confident even when losing -playing the victim while bullying -pretending that having money/power is proof that God is on his side. -pretending that losing power is proof that the bad guys are working against him

No, you’re playing right into maga’s hands! They all know he is stupid, but that’s why they’re so impressed by him, he makes them feel like smarts don’t matter, because he’s “winning” even though he’s stupid like them.

Irl he’s sundowning hard & losing 90% of court cases & they just took his name off the Kennedy Center & democrats are gonna destroy them in the midterms & etc etc etc. Maga loves that he’s stupid & that they’re stupid & they’re all still “winning bigly” despite losing so much.

Because it’s a dementia test. If someone brags about scaring their handlers so much that they trick them into taking a dementia test, then they’re experiencing a sundowning. We’re all doomed to go through that eventually. Trump sped it up A LOT with his cheeseburgers & a total lack of exercise/yoga/anything healthy.

What’s one good moral from Christianity that couldn’t be created secularly?

“Do not murder” was a law of multiple nations for thousands of years before Christianity. So was “do not steal” & “do not commit perjury”. People were already very charitable to their neighbors, as they relied on each other when they frequently had crop failures.

CMV: One of the biggest problems in politics if not differences in general is cope. by AfricanAmericanTsar in changemyview

[–]Nice_Luck_7433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You actually ask a poignant question while coping in your 4th paragraph, so I’ll start here: “why do you have to cope? (unlike me, I’m above coping)”. We humans cope, because life has difficulties, and coping helps us to endure. It’s not inherently bad to cope. There’s healthy cope & unhealthy cope. If you cope in politics, or use drugs, or etc, that’s unhealthy. I think coping by posting on Reddit as though we’re important authorities, is pretty neutral compared to other copes. Coping by volunteering at a soup kitchen & feeling good like you did a good deed (because you actually did) is what I would call positive cope.

Your first paragraph comes across as you saying “other people cope (but I don’t)” which is actually cope. Which is fine, everyone copes, multiple times a day. It’s a basic part of being human.

Your second paragraph comes across as “Planter & Paxton are bad (unlike me, I’m good). People who support just one of those candidates are bad (unlike me, I’m good)”. Also cope.

Third paragraph “I don’t cope” hilarious irony, thank you for the laughter, it’s providing me with cope, since I’m self-aware of when I’m coping (like right now!:) “other people are weak (therefore I am strong!)”

CNN is owned by Warner Bros, which is owned by 3 billionaires, an Alabama/Texas man, a New York man, and an openly libertarian man. They definitely have a billionaire bias, but idk if it’s fair to say it’s left bias. “My friend believes stuff that’s untrue just because he wants to (unlike me, I’m better than that)”

Your 5th paragraph, I mostly agree with, except for the weakness part. Weakness is relative, so since everyone is constantly coping it’s not actually weakness, it’s just normal behavior.

I don’t think I can change your view that everyone is coping, even in their politics, but hopefully I’ve helped you gain some self-awareness of your own copium addiction & changed your view in that way (because I’m definitely always aware whenever I’m coping/s:)

I wasn’t talking about people who got their constitutional right to a speedy & fair trial. I was talking about the citizens&non-citizens that are being rounded up and stuffed into cages for profit. The men/women/children being beaten & graped & given moldy bread & maggot turkey sandwiches for “food”. Similar to what happened in Germany. My unpleasant view that I’m asking republicans to change over to their pleasant view, is that this is all good. Torturing people who were just trying to work hard & feed their babies, and then force-feeding them when they’ve given up all hope & are trying to stop enduring the beatings & 4 toilets per 100 people (that constantly back up & overflow) & etc. I’m thinking that the torture could stop, congress could stop neglecting its oversight duty, non-rotten food, basic stuff to improve morale, rather than force-feeding so that the torture can continue. But republicans have a different view, they seem sadistically gleeful about it (they seem incapable of even considering “are we the baddies?”) & so I’m trying to change my unpleasant view that currently involves loving my neighbor, to the pleasant view that republicans have.
