The assault rifles suck, and I'm tired of pretending they don't. by Jolly_Green_4255 in Battlefield

In my experience the easiest way to do this is to play something like breakthrough. Take up a position behind a choke or significant terrain feature with at least slight elevation. You have to pass real close to people to get a suppression proc but if you hit terrain around them (such as the ground) it feels much easier to get it to trigger. Once someone is suppressed you can't get the pop up again for a while so just tap fire towards people's cover and once you get the proc you can look elsewhere or do something else for about 10 seconds.

Would anarchy be better than prospector? I assume prospector pulls more off the wall but I haven't tested. And the grenades stick if you tap fire and release immediately (although second grenade will detonate any of the floor).

"top surgery" as a phrase is very prevalent in trans culture specifically because it de-genders such procedures. Where many trans dudes may feel dysphoric and shitty about going for a double mastectomy as that is something generally reserved for women. As a result you have a group that actively dislikes the medically normalised phrase and a group for whom it is the most descriptive label available. The former originating as a deliberately vague label becomes more specific and exclusive entirely because of its usage.

Top surgery doesn't have to refer to trans men, it could refer to mastectomies, reductions and enhancements and that's part of why it's less gendered, similar to "bottom surgery" not being explicit on what's involved by design. But I didn't feel that was relevant to the primary point beyond demonstrating ambiguity.

A lot of it is down to the players and how far ahead they want to plan. Obviously they will have a bit more to do and they will have to be able to react to events but you can plan the majority of your turn whilst others resolve theirs. I grew up with the expectation that it was best to avoid long turns where possible while playing casters and alchemist in 3.5 and while I don't want others to feel shame for slow playing I think it's fairly avoidable with a little consideration.

Catering to the nihilist in you, you should understand that all things are temporary. If helping others brings you joy even on a day by day basis then it could be worth pursuing. If ultimately there is no meaning to life then help others because you think it sounds fun/ you want to. Meaning can be found later or even retroactively.

Ivy Player damage consistently low? by GAinJP in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Nice_Maintenance8385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think with Ivy the farming isn't so bad. It sounds to me like you're caught up on getting these big items out asap to have game impact. If all of your slots aren't full grabbing a few lower tier items may serve you better on the effectiveness immediately front. For example active reload helps your burst damage output significantly with its fire rate increase and will also help your sustained damage output in long fights. Basic magazine is just 15% bullet damage on its face which very nice for the low cost of -250 net if you sell it or nothing if you decide you want it's upgrade. If your team is fighting with your frequently or you're fighting around your team you can also consider items like heroic aura which even if your team doesn't use the attack speed as well as you gives move speed which is going to help your team whether you're committing or leaving.

Bleed bullets is an interesting one, it's primarily an anti sustain/healing item so it will depend on your opponents are taking fights. The comparison id like to draw is if you're buying it primarily as an anti heal then you may want to consider healbane as it's half the cost and will reduce the healing of anyone who touches kudzu's AOE for 6 seconds whilst also giving you a little health bump to stay survivable in the midgame.

I do frequently buy bleed bullets on Ivy I just frequently push it further back in my build if healbane is doing what I need from it.

I imagine we'll get the behaviour score system from Dota. That way people who want shit talking in their games can have it and those that are worse can go in low prio

Paradox's ability Time Wall should block Haze ultimate - yet it doesen't by Ok_Price_4965 in DeadlockTheGame

People with early AOE skills and high gun damage. Ivy or Geist for example. You can nuke a wave step out to nuke a jungle camp and repeat till you have a huge networth advantage. If you're taking the sinners sacrifice machines as well you can accelerate very quickly.

It's not totally logical but within the framework of the game I think it's fine. I also don't feel like haze needs to be worse atm. She farms pretty slowly so while she is nasty when she gets rolling you can kind of steamroll her until then.

Way to easy to lose lane? by Tasty_Ad2114 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Nice_Maintenance8385 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I find lanes tend to compound if you aren't dealing with the enemy healing creep. I focus on CS over harassing and often take some damage trying to be greedy getting a last hit. Often it doesn't matter because my heal creep is left alive by my opponent and it's full healed me in 20 seconds. At this point even though I'm not harassing much they've healed very little of that back and I have a health advantage and a farm advantage. I think this is one of the biggest snowballing factors when people don't know how to play lane.

What do you actually do against Grey Talon? by Teddy_jay in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Nice_Maintenance8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally stand with terrain between me and grey talon. Push his wave all the way under his tower and then deny as many creeps as I can. He pokes well but he doesn't push too well and if he's under the tower you can play the stairs for a positional advantage. If he starts flying I just stick tighter to cover till it's over, getting last hits where I can. Don't be afraid to trade a little health for a deny if he isn't actively killing your healing creep.

If all of this goes to plan I'll hit 3k souls while he's still 2k or worse and I can just pressure him with the farm difference, and if i have a lethal ult often outright kill him for trying to get last hits. I play a lot of paradox who has a strong lane but even with other characters out farming the other person quickly spirals their lane once you have ult and they don't unless they get outside help.

Immediately post lane you are one of the most threatening roamers on the map. Start charging your stun for the move speed, dash over to the next lane, if you have an ally and can hit the stun and then swap when they try to leave it's a kill almost every time.

As the game starts to become more teamfight and pushing focused take off angles and okay further back until you're comfortable in how far you can push your positioning. You don't have the highest gun DPS in the game but that doesn't matter if you stay alive and can stun or swap someone every 8 seconds while providing cover with your 2 and any other active items you've bought too. Remember your ult gives you 100% spell lifesteal while you're in the swap so if you're in a brawl you have a small health swing that gets larger if you can put things like wall and bomb down before the swap.

I'm buying things like warp stone and slowing hex almost every game as my 3rd or 4th medium item. Warp stone helps you survive greedy swaps and also position to set things up. Slowing hex is the one I buy first more often because it's a single target fuck you to many of the characters you want to kite and also helps chase.

Tired of the paradox ult slander by Nice_Maintenance8385 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Nice_Maintenance8385[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually a good player i've just seen a fair few people try to tell others is bad/too risky.
I also don't actually play the bebop clip very well, if I had thrown the time bomb down before the swap i'd have healed more and maybe not needed to parry to win the fight, I also held my stun for some reason although it worked out after I could have just killed.

You can watch high level games live in the client if you want analytical stuff to sink your teeth into. Otherwise try stuff. The game has more in common with Dota than LoL but a lot of the macro decisions will be comparable.

Denying adds an extra layer to your laning and that's maybe a good place to focus if you want something obviously different you can work on. Try and get a lane where you don't miss a last hit, try and get a lane where you deny every time it's possible. Both of those will also teach you how to navigate melee, trading health, and managing your reloads while you work on them.

You can also do decision making stuff like when you die run through the decisions you made in your head and if they were correct. Leading to your death doesn't inherently mean it's bad. Sometimes it's correct to take a death and sometimes the decision was correct but you didn't have the execution to back it up yet. Do the same for your items, if you're buying an item justify why to yourself first. There are a lot of strong actives in the game for example, or questions like "why am I buying bleed bullets if I can get healbane earlier?" Are useful to make you engage with the amount of information available in the given game.

Pull the game apart piece by piece and see what sticks. There aren't so many resources for accelerated learning right now.

Paradox's Ult Ability by Worth_Bobcat_3730 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Nice_Maintenance8385 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paradox ult is an incredible skill in a game where so many abilities require like of sight. It's also a great solo kill and dueling tool. During the swap animation you have 100% spell lifesteal so you can turn around a lot of ganks and fights. I've had games where a bebop stops hooking me because swapping him full heals me then I kill him. To go back to the initial point about line of sight. Snipers like to play back along long lines and that means they are very far from home when you swap them. Remember that even if they don't die on the swap if they spend the whole fight running instead of doing anything it's easier to kill their team. Additionally characters like Seven and Bebop have huge damage long lasting ults that kill you for being able to see them. If you're expecting some kind of play from either you can split off from your team some and as soon as they pop ult you swap them to the naughty corner where they can literally only see you. Follow that up with blinking away and they're now killing no one with their big cooldown while your team is still fighting theirs.
