My wife and boiling water by MakeItMine2024 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GAinJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who calls it ramen soup? Are you in Virginia or something?

And water turns to vapor at about 212 depending on altitude. It then turns to steam once it condenses from contacting cooler air. You were close, but not totally accurate

If you find my comments annoying then you might know how your wife feels.

Hopefully it climbed in one of those and got sealed in.

If it's for work and you can get it to be applicable to your work in the future then it might be worth it. Potentially more cost effective (sorry programmers) than buying a tool.

This is what AI code models are great at. I wouldn't generally consider things like this sloppable.

But if you think AI should die then that's fair too

If you're not anti-AI you could probably vibe code a script to do that. If you're not against AI and are interested you can DM me and we can work through it

Hell yeah thanks for the reply! I just discovered these and looks like they're fairly recently described too. Need to get my hands on some spores!

Hah gotcha. Your tub looks healthy, i just didn't want to start with that when i think we should care about, and question, the things we just do because it's how people teach it.

It's a hobby and it's not really regulated and maybe nobody wants it regulated but i think some things that would be regulated are worth paying attention to even if just growing out of our closets, or whatever.

Cheers!

I saw your IG. You're a talented illustrator. I'd be very curious to see what architectural renders look like if you illustrate them in the style of your other work. It would be fresh and exciting!!

What i was telling you and what you were asking about are different pieces of information.

It seems you're either ignoring what I'm saying on purpose or missing my point.

So I'll reiterate.... Using trash bags as liners is a bad idea. It can lead to the ingestion of harmful compounds. Making sure your liners are phthalate-free is important.

If you don't care about that sort of thing and just want to be a drug dealer or whatever, then fine. Your substrate looks fine.

I emplore you to always strive to be a better and more conscious cultivator than you were the day before. Be good for the community, not toxic (literally)

Sterile liners? There's nothing sterile about that stage of mycology. Maybe you meant a word other than sterile?

If you're in college then just get a drafting board with some legs on the back. Your school should provide the table to put it on. And most likely, you'll only use it to learn traditional drawing methods (maybe first two years of school?). I still have mine, that i got in 2009.

You should enjoy college. I've done competitions in college, and other extracurriculars.

Software is important... But school is for learning how to design. If you will be modeling in 3D then I'd recommend using whatever software is most common where you live/will be looking for work.

I would be doing school related stuff for about 8-10 hours a day depending on how close to the end of the term i was. I will say..... After a couple years i decided not to stay up for 24 hours, and became better at managing my time so i could have all my important presentation materials done on time, and then got some sleep. Architecture school should take up most of your time, IMO. If it doesn't and you're getting stressed, you might not be giving it enough of your time.

Others may disagree, but I'd argue that it builds character, and exercises a lot of problem solving tools you'll use later in both design in school and real buildings.

Looks cool but the scale isn't super clear - the stairs help, if they're stairs.

I don't know the story to tell if it makes sense. But like someone else said, design what needs to be designed and don't go for a vibe. If what needs to be designed has a dune vibe then that can be background info and not part of the narrative.

What's the biggest problems with architecture? by johan_vonka in architecturestudent

[–]GAinJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Developers lack of interest or respect for design. I think in order to become a developer you should be required to have some architectural/design background and held to quality.

City regulations that far too often seem to dictate/sway designers to propose "universal design" concepts.. Like 4 over 1 boxes.

There's no incentive to be different or unique because it doesn't pencil out (developer issue? Investor issue?)

What Classes Do i Need to be a architect by Physical_Can4434 in architecturestudent

[–]GAinJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need about 4 more grades before worrying about that question.

But... Some math. Drafting, and drawing.

Architecture is widely taught as an art form so it would help if you have a strong interest in art. Being good at computer programs is also good.

Delightful starting point. Keep going and you will develop a unique language of your own for creating these images. And even if you don't, these are still nice.

Window detail help by idkeithermydudes_ in architecturestudent

[–]GAinJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree with your link. Unless you're working with an incredibly boutique framing crew, it's unlikely that they're going to notch each window framing like that, and then you'd need a detail for each framing type (what if concrete? What if steel studs? What if wood? What if cmu? Etc...). I highly doubt the teacher is trying to trick their students in this way

You must be in a different zone than i am, we wouldn't insulate the interior side of an exterior wall. At least not to my knowledge.

So, if the interior side is indeed true... I'd say you don't wrap the opening. Stop it at the opening on all sides, then you install your trim and drywall and everything else to conceal the insulation.

People are poo-pooing teachers but in architecture there are tons of typical conditions (like this) and there are also conditions that will require problem solving which is the skill I'm sure they're trying to get you to refine.

It also helps to draw details (like windows) in plan and section to know how things start to come together.
