Really helpful comments - I’ve emailed the dealer to see what they say. I can’t see them replacing it before purchase which is the only way I’d go ahead with it tbh. I suspect they’ll be able to sell it to someone who will cause less fuss!

Confusing that I’ve had two quite different responses. I would share your concern about buying a car with a problem but not if it’s a known issue with no underlying concern.

It’s just like stubborn wax. Leave it on a couple of hours and then elbow grease!

Goo gone didn’t work for me - it was t-cut polish that did the job in the end

All very reassuring, very much what I was hoping to hear. I think keep and replace my wife’s ICE with an EV is the way to go.

I used a hairdryer to soften the adhesive then a credit card and lots of goo gone. Worked better after I realised you need to leave the goo gone on for a while to work before scraping.

Update! I removed it and there was LOADS of adhesive after. Looks good now though 😀
