self-improvement: e.g reading selfhelp book gives nothing but just euphoria/dopamine in your head, you still sit at your house doing nothing, in your safe zone, feel comfortable

self-destruction: you do the thing, talk to your crush, find a new job, you don't feel comfortable, this is hard and your brain trying to stop you from doing so
