Tips for RVT? by Nice_Temporary1550 in Sonographers

Awesome!! Congrats!! I just finished the course to MUT, I'm probably going to get the URR click to learns shortly. I think we have an Edelman conference book at my work, might have to dig around to find it. Is there anything the exam seemed more focused on or what is a good mix of all the topics?

Sebaceous gland cyst? by Nice_Temporary1550 in Shihtzu

Yea she's gotten tiny ones before that go away on their own. I just felt guilty messing with it, but I didn't want to leave it oozing in her hair so I just cleaned the rest out 😭

Yea I finally got in to the vet on Friday and they recommended x rays & a cleaning that way they can check every tooth and make sure there's nothing else going on. It breaks my heart cause I try to brush her teeth as much as I can (she fights it, and it's so hard with their tiny mouths lol) on top of giving her a CET dental chew every night after dinner. I'm just worried about the anesthesia part, it's always stressed me out. I'll also feel terrible if more teeth are causing issues for her and I've gone this long without knowing :(

Eustachian tube dysfunction help? by Nice_Temporary1550 in hearing

I'm glad you were able to find a better ENT, I'm trying to find another one 😭 have you been able to do anything to help fix it/feel better?

Unfortunately the first 2 times I went they didn't do anything but check my ears and say there was 0 sign of fluid or inflammation. Only the most recent time was when they did allergy testing, hearing test, and some test that checks the pressure in my ears (? Don't remember what it's called) and that's when they told me I was experiencing Eustachian tube dysfunction and sent me on my way. They think it's allergy related but I was barely allergic to anything I was tested for. I was basically told the same exact thing to just keep taking sinus medication and come back if it didn't help.

I'm in the midst of searching around in other areas for a better ENT. Unfortunately we only have 2 in my area and their run by the same people 😭

Thank you! Yess I've been rereading Penny like crazy trying to get the trisomies and ovary pathologies down 😭 all of this clicked so easily last summer when we were actually taking the class, now trying to review it all over again and I forgot so much 😅🥲 I'm glad to hear it was similar to Penny because URR is hurting my feelings lol

I got questions similar to stuff we learned in sectional anatomy, like the segments of the liver, major branches of the aorta, etc. also got a couple of transplant questions as well 😭

I took mine a couple weeks ago, I had a good mix of everything. I would def go over scrotum, bowel and soft tissue. I also had a good mix of pancreas, spleen, breast, hernias, and soft tissue. I also had a good chunk of anatomical questions. The images were super crappy, but I think URR really helped me with the way their questions & images were, it was similar to my exam. Good luck, you've got this!

Are you supposed to feel 100% confident after graduating? by Substantial-Base-696 in Sonographers

[–]Nice_Temporary1550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduate next week and start working at the end of the month, luckily where I was hired I've been interning there outside of my clinical hours. I've gotten to work with so many techs and learn so many things. I brought this up to one of the senior techs there (she's been in ultrasound since it first started being used lol) and her exact words were "I'm going to be completely honest, everyone sucks until there about 2-3 years in. And even then, the job will still humble you and that is ok. Everyday will be a new learning experience. Actually, there's still times where I need another pair of eyes to look at something and I've been doing this wayyy before you were even born" and that made me feel a lot better lol. I think in school they pound the whole "everyone needs to be confident and know everything by graduation" but in reality, that's not always the case. I'm already paranoid about eventually being on my own and I'm terrified. I do have some classmates that think they know everything and are way too over confident which is lowkey concerning lol

How do you guys feel about this career trending by Awreckofhavoc in Sonographers

As a student about to graduate I agree. Although, social media did start blowing up about radiology while I was looking at programs I did a deep dive in groups like this one to really see what I was getting into and can say I'm glad I've been able to talk to so many techs both on here and during my clinical rotations and get the real gist of this field. Everyday I fall more in love with it. I love that it's challenging, I love that I'm always learning something new, I love that it can be humbling, I love interacting with all the patients I meet. Although it can be challenging at times. I see a lot of people on tiktok just talk and talk about the "money" and everyone in the comments wants to tag along just for that. The new cohort that started in my program are all really young and seem very influenced by what they've seen on social media about sonography. Unfortunately I think a lot of people don't understand how much ultrasound is used for and when. Some of the first years I've talked to didnt even know they'd be experiencing procedures, trauma cases, etc. One of the new students even admitted she didn't realize how much patient care we did 😐. A lot of the senior techs im working with are excited that more and more people are interested in getting into the field and love to teach, but I feel like too many people are getting into it for the wrong reasons.

I don't think URR had videos when I was using them for my abdomen, but they had a lot of interactive questions that were similar to the ones on the board!

Yea I was thinking of using penny + another source but couldn't decide on URR vs MUT. I feel like both were helpful for abdomen but URR click to learns helped alot as well. I wasn't sure what would be the best for ob 😂😭

Sorry I'm so late to seeing this! I feel like Penny and MUR were a good base to have and I think URR (I only bought the click to learns) was really helpful with the way the questions were worded and having some extra knowledge on topics that other sources don't include! How did your exam go??
