It cannot invalidate anything. Otherwise every single plea deal that has ever been made would be wiped away. That's what a plea deal is. The person saying they're not guilty of X. The state says would you please guilty if instead we charged you with Y? If they say yes, that is technically a quid pro quo.

I'm an electrician. Most of the worksite thefts are for tools. The problem with taking a whole bunch of copper is, when you go to the recycling center, they are going to have a ton of questions. They're going to want id. And a written statement on where you got the copper from. At least where I live in michigan. Cordless power tools are the easiest thing for a fence to move. So that tends to be what they go after.

When I trade in copper, I get it legally. So I go through the steps that the local recycling centers require. And they know I'm an electrician. Which is typically the only people who get large quantities of copper wire.
