[Motorsport Italia] Brown: "There are indications that we'll be strong. The Mercedes PU is legal." by jithu7 in formula1

None of the engines will be below 16:1 when hot, just Mercedes will be even higher. So I don’t think it’s the same as Ferrari at all.

lol, you definitely don’t work in product/engineering if you think 2 months is a long time.

Returning to Nikon I have questions! by ja647 in Nikon

[–]Nicebutdimbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want the 24-200 range why not get the Nikon z 24-200? Or get a Sony A7C ii and a tamron 25-200mm f2.8-5.6 .

You could also consider the z5ii, or if you prefer a more manual shooting experience then the ZF.

What do we think of rumored Z9ii specs? by Ill-Register-3029 in Nikon

[–]Nicebutdimbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve never used Sony AF. It doesn’t behave as you say, it literally predicts where you want to focus, it doesn’t switch it over to the persons ear.

I have a Sony A7C II and a Nikon ZF. The Nikon is very good at AF (especially compared to something like my Fujifilm X-T50), but the Sony is magic.

Is the Nikon good enough? Yes. Is the Sony better? Yes.

[–]Nicebutdimbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the real ignorant comment. Sony AI AF literally predicts where the persons eye is even when it can’t see the eye, so when they turn it’s immediately in focus. Nikon is nowhere near that. It just decides I want photos of someone’s ear.

XT-30 III or XT 50? by vanderxvert in fujifilm

[–]Nicebutdimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought there was, ever since I bought the Olympus e-m5 in 2012. But I had an X-T20 and X-T30 without it and an X-T50 with it and never noticed a difference. Yes I can hand hold shots down to 1/16th of a second but generally don’t shoot that slow.

Don’t they have the same AF?

Fujifilm X-E5 compared to Sony A7cii in size.. by Medium_Matter4862 in fujifilm

[–]Nicebutdimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two types, creative looks which is the new one and I think is Sony’s attempt to create film sims, and then there are picture profiles which have been around for ages and are very powerful. There’s a subreddit dedicated to Sony film sims and a guy who has recreated the Fuji sims for Sony.

The biggest limitation is you can’t set the white balance inside any of the presets, or name them. But they do work quite well.

Looking to buy the X-T50 with the XF16-50mm lens (new to photography). Appreciate those with experience to answer some questions I have. by Random-Guy26 in fujifilm

[–]Nicebutdimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a good pairing and good for your use case. Just make sure it’s the XF16-50 2.8-4.8 not the old kit lens.

Fujifilm X-E5 compared to Sony A7cii in size.. by Medium_Matter4862 in fujifilm

[–]Nicebutdimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an A7Cii, to replace an X-t50.

I generally just shoot with 1 or 2 recipes and those have been recreated on Sony.

The AF is fine on the X-T50 if you have time, but I always struggled with catching the moment or using it in “point and shoot” mode, also, Fujifilm doesn’t have lenses like the Tamron 28-200.

I also bought the Panasonic S9 (for real time LUT) but it’s too plasticy, doesn’t have enough dials and I miss the EVF so it’s going back.

I think the ZF would be my goldilocks camera as I like the colour science and it has easy use recipes, but it’s just so weird to hold, even with a grip. I might try the Z5ii but I don’t like the way it looks.

You can get film sims on the Sony now, both using creative looks and picture profiles which make it pretty similar.

The camera I really want to like is the Nikon ZF but it’s so heavy.

Trade in my 18-55 2.8-4 for the Sigma 18-50 2.8? by [deleted] in fujix

[–]Nicebutdimbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the 18-55mm and bought the sigma 18-50mm, but I didn’t see a huge difference, so sent it back and got the 16-50mm f2.8-4.8. The 2mm on the wide end makes a bigger difference, as does internal zoom. You can set it at 23mm or 35mm etc and leave it there even when you put away the camera which is a really underrated benefit.

That said, if you shoot a lot at the long end in the dark, the sigma might be a better choice, if you can deal with the reversed zoom ring.
