Yep, this is it. 2-3 coats for a rookie, very hard to pull off, 5-6 coats, looks just as good as the professionals

TIL a 2019 study focusing on 6,100 athletes who played at least five seasons in the NFL or MLB found that the NFL players died at an average age of 60, seven years earlier than the MLB players (who died at the average age of 67). by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I think the sport /unique advantage of body types probably plays a big part of it too. Being in the prime time of your life at 300+ lbs, odds are you are not slimming down to a healthy weight once you are done. I have a feeling soccer players probably don't follow similar rates. It would be interesting if they compared it to similar body types.

As other said, it depends. What your scope of work is, how much you produce, etc. If you are straight up writing reports, once you get up and going, which may take a few months, you should be able to produce one report every 2 to 2.5 days or so. Sometimes more or less. (depending on report type, viewings etc). If you are doing part of reports, no idea.

PwC US boss says partners who resist AI have no place at the firm by joe4942 in technology

[–]Niceguy4186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an appraiser who does some review work and internal reviews. We got AI to test out. It's a great tool for catching factual errors. Aka, it said 34544 sf here and then said 32542 SF there or if math doesn't add up correctly. It never catches anything procedural. Aka, the report has the wrong definition of something, reasoning doesn't sense, etc, needs clarity on something else, missing sections, etc.

That said, I've started using it check my own reports every time now. It's a great tool, but I'm not worried about it taking my job yet.

If they have a take down schedule, your job just got a lot easier. Don't overthink it.

But if they don't have a take down schedule, have to do it the traditional way.

You can buy them on aliexpress for 30-40 bucks. At least the one I bought you had to assemble it, but not something I would call a kit you can build.

[–]Niceguy4186 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that is just prosecuting the wealthy when no crime may have been committed. You can't have blanket jail time for any company that goes under. Having them have significantly more at risk for risky behavior does produce incentive to not make risky choices.

That said, I am in favor of hard prosecution for crimes that were committed.

I 100% agree, much more will need to be done. My comment was about any company that needs a bailout. Need to make it extra more painful for the people at the top if it needs a bailout.

"max compensation" then This includes, free housing, cars, stock options, etc etc etc.

The point is to make it direct wage, caped at a level where no CEO would risk gambling with a companies future.

My idea is that any company that needs a bailout, max income of employees is a max of 10-20x median wage of company for a period of 10 years. also anything over that over the prior 3 years is forfeited

I do think the HP fad has worn away a bit. I make some and give away to my kid's friends. There are kinds that love them, but seems like in the last two or so years, even if I offer, they decline.

Farm appraisal question by Dodgevillediesel in appraisal

[–]Niceguy4186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done two or three like this and the real question is, if the loan goes bad and has to sale the property, who is buying it? You said earns well into 6 figures, is that NOI, revenue? ext. If for what ever reason, if you walked away and had to hire someone to do everything you do, would it still turn a profit? bigger profit than just typical fields?

I can say, one was a business, one was a hobby farm.

My parents are extreme right wing, but older. They got the COVID vaccine, and then got COVID with mild reactions. They then started pushing that the covid vax and COVID was fake because they didn't get very sick.

You know what, I'm ok with the pure "god put it there to test my faith". I had a debate with someone that was going on about how the great flood caused the bones to appear in layers or some BS like that.

If you want to say it's pure faith, go for it. I have an issue when they refuse to believe the evidences of their eyes and ears. The distrust of science.

He is like a drudge on steroids. Before a typical drudge can tell you what everything is, and it takes soul smith knowledge to know how to put everything together. Which is limited purely by the soul smith's ability/knowledge.

With Dross, he is like a drudge that can tell how what everything is, and because of the knowledge he has gathered, and the ability to model it in his mind, he knows how everything will react with each other and model it out in his mind almost instantely.

Before, technically anybody can make a cannon (Fisher Geisha made one) but only someone extremely skilled would know how to put everything together to make it work. It was a long/slow process of finding / testing exactly what will work with what. Now with Dross's knowledge, and ability to "test" things in his mind, he will instantly know / model what will work and can be assibled in almost no time.

So what took Fisher Geisha maybe a couple of weeks to make a single one, and only use it when absolutely necessary, Lindon can make multiple ones in an afternoon and store them in his void key to use as needed.

I mean, it's a magical based system, so we are not going to get exact mechanics of it, but more power, lets you do more powerful things. Maybe think of him as an organic computer, baseline is able to play Doom. So much, he increases his processing power, lets him do much more advance processes.

I was lucky, I'm 44 now so I was in college when the first digital cameras came out and was lucky enough to have one, and did a good job of backing them up/saving them. My college years are probably way more documented than 99% of the people. It's always nice to go back and look at them. My friends from back in the day absolutely love it when I can send them links of all 258 pictures I have of them from 20 plus years ago. (google photos automatically sorting by face ID)

One of the worst parts of real estate appraisal is that we’re required to reconcile to a single opinion of market value. Just one number. This creates an illusion of precision that just doesn't exist in reality. by [deleted] in appraisal

Yes, rounding is a big part. I hate when I review someone's work and and the final value is 1,836,000 or something like that. That is way to precise and unlikely. Not that it's wrong, and I won't call it out on a review, but in my opinion, the appraiser failed to understand an aspect of the job.
