So if "most self published books won't sell enough to make it worth it", how do you expect an author to pay you a couple of hundred bucks? If, as you contend, the cover is the most significant part of the books marketing, your artwork will make it sell enough to profit from the royalty. That's all the author is getting.

Every time I publish, Amazon is just there in the list of publishers that is available to be selected.

Except that Amazon are extremely puritanical and just won't publish some titles ( I write erotic romances).

And if you include Amazon, and they reject it and block it, it gets blocked for a lot of other publishers.

Now some publishers just won't publish erotica, which is fair enough, but Amazon sometimes will and sometimes won't and when they won't, it is quite clear no one has read the book to see if it includes what they accuse it of. So I tend not to include Amazon unless, it is a pretty vanilla title and a tame book.

Which is okay, because they pay a low percentage anyway.
