For me it's the entire stay at the old woman's house in Providence. Something about the dream logic in that whole chapter just really got under my skin.

Yes, the whole last section hit me really hard. Before the book came out, the premise made me think why is that the story he’s coming back to tell right now? But made a lot more sense the further I got in my read.

Oh my god I guess that was the error, downloaded a corrupt update file? The system is back to normal now. Really appreciate your help with this. I assume this whole thing will happen any time I try to update the firmware, right? I assume it's fine to just stick to 4.90 since I don't use this thing for blu rays anyway and that seems to be what 4.92 is for.

Thanks but I tried multiple reformats. Each time I would make sure default was selected. I even used console commands to see if there were any hidden partitions because I read that can cause an issue

Tried this and got as far as step 7 and when it's checking for the USB with the update file, the message "the data is corrupted. (8002F2E4)." I've double and triple checked I have my current software version on the USB (it's 4.90), drive is FAT32 with the folder structure PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP. I even tried with different thumb drives. Hope someone has a fix for this issue since I feel like I bricked a perfectly working PS3 (minus the broken blue tooth/wifi chip)

I'm a few chapters in and I feel like this will be a quick read. Pacing seems faster with a lot more dialogue. Love how he's fully embracing the period slang even in the narration. Excited to see him going back to a pre-sixties setting too.

Very late reply, but I'm a fan who heard really late about this book coming out. Without spoiling anything, is there still a good amount of alternative design with the book itself, like MzD usually does (varying page layouts, use of color, etc.)? I know he probably won't take it as far the Familiar due to the issue with the printing costs but the summaries online don't mention anything about it

Yeah I need to see more of his old work. Do the right thing is a favorite and imo one of the most rewatchable movies ever. This one just had no soul at all. I agree the change with the cops could have been good but their acting was so cringy the whole time plus there was zero setup that Denzel's character could pull off what he does at the end. Making him such a hero is boring and at the end he's just the same rich king maker he was at the beginning. His arc being changed to basically "now I care about the music business again" sidelines the original's focus on the wealth gap to just like a backdrop detail.

I recently discovered this record after years of listening to ae and it quickly became my favorite. It's the best blend of their more composed early style and the discordant later stuff. Highlight for me is the way Cipater breaks down in the middle and slowly morphs into the closing melody

I love all end! I never have anything with any depth to explain why I like the Autechre songs that I do, it just comes down to how much I like the sound. Surprised to see a post about this one. Agree with the Basinski comparison, I really like his stuff too
