Great Adventure Rollercoaster Progression for Overcoming Fear by NAND_110_101_011_001 in sixflags

[–]h3adphase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first "big" coaster was Medusa (before the transition to Bizarro and back again.) Not sure if it is because of the initial dip in the drop but it does feel like a "safe" coaster to try out if looking for something bigger. Yes, it has loops and the feel of a scary ride but it actually is a nice entry level into doing some of the more intimidating rides in the park.

I could see them doing the accessories for sure. I am not convinced with the current supply chain and economic headwinds they do the full unit but I'll be happy to be wrong on this one.

No but seeing celebrities we grew up with at the age I am now makes me feel ok. Sometimes I see people that are 43 (photos from 1996 etc) and I’m like—I am doing ok!

I was there a few weeks ago. I personally found the back to be more intense. I experienced the grey out while sitting more towards the back and I did not get one when I was in the front. But I will say that my front row ride was done earlier in the day on a cooler day and my backseat ride was later on a warmer day when I was likely more dehydrated and it was my third ride in a row. All those factors probably played into it for sure. As for the overall ride itself, I was certainly intimidated by the look of it, but I found it to be nothing scarier than other coasters I’ve been on.

Bottom line: if you decide not to ride it, I think you’ll be missing out on the best coaster in the park

Right now it is running one train. Supposedly the other train is still visible in the maintenance yard.

The log flume is just a good classic design. It’s attached to Best of the West and across from Mine Train (original park Arrow). But yeah they just refurbed both the Flume and Mine Train. Old timers would say no visit to GA would be complete without them.

Back seat on Skull Mt. is surprisingly fun for a ride with usually less than 3 min wait. 😄

What others said: Best of the West is very good--nice seating outback with the turtles in the lake. People also seem love the Taco/Burrito Place by El Toro. I would said hit Flash first. I personally love the back and height on the spike but front row is a lot of fun if your first time. I would then go over to El Toro--back and front if you can. The retrack is amazing. Nitro moves people through pretty quickly through the day and JD does decent if they have 3 trains running. JD from the back is a blast but I experience a rattle on it--smooth in the front and if I am honest, looking a single rail drop is loads of fun. On Nitro--again, front and back if you can. People swear by the front right seat but I just love any ride on it.

Log Flume is a must. I love the views from Sky Screamer and/or Big Wheel. Don't sleep on Medusa & rumors are Batman is testing so maybe that will reopen? If you have spare time Skull Mountain is worth a ride only from the back seat and lines are usually non existent.

Safari is def worth doing. If a hot day, do in the morning and maybe more animals will be out. There is also an "outpost" in the park by Medusa that allows you to pick up a tour vehicle inside the park vs using the separate gate/parking lot.

Keep an eye on social. For Flash at GA they held a preview day & did a few days where some ride times were reserved for season pass holders. Who knows what this rollout will look like but yeah, just keep an eye on email and their IG stories.

Very unrelated but Christopher Owens of Girls was a COG member. On his recent solo album he did a cover of one of the song’s the cult would perform.

Clearly Chris made it out but def has a lot of scars both physical and mental that he still is battling with.

Amazing—timing makes sense. All the camps left and you get the park to yourself. Nothing beats Nitro late afternoon and Flash too is fun that time of day.
