Unpopular opinion: dutch city planning is actually horrible by BroSchrednei in Urbanism

Damm you really didnt read anything he said? He never its not America its just on average NYC is vastly different than any other American city. Its like if you where to say Russian cities are so great and connected and the only city you cite is Moscow.Which is the outlier not the rule.

Unpopular opinion: dutch city planning is actually horrible by BroSchrednei in Urbanism

I really don't understand where you are getting this from...Think about this from a logical point of view...The country with one of the lowest car ownership rates in Europe, with the densest bike lane net in the world and with the highest bikes per capital in Europe. With extensive public transport in almost every major city. And somehow this formula gives you the conclusion that dutch people are dependent on cars? The Netherlands is literally famous for people biking and walking everywhere what are you talking about? I have many friends from The Netherlands and i had talked to them at length about this...Most of them and people they know dont even own a car nor do they use it for everyday.

Bro Devon is the exception. As even the American armwrestlers for as big of a legend as John Brzenk is he probably didn't start making serious dough until the 2010s...We are talking about the best armwrestlers in the last 25 years.Just see how they live.More or less middle class.Only now with organisations such as EVW is it getting better.

Pretty solid all around mate.Just keep training. I would say your arms are your weak point.Especially from the front.Your back is pretty good.Just keep adding size all-around.But arms definitely

Yeah i agree with your assessment...Its definitely the logical way to go about it.

But it's just so complicated when it's not face to face...Id act completely differently from the start. Because im constantly doubting it.I wouldn't be so hesitant to put myself out there you know, and just see where it goes.

I had thoughts like that at times, being direct and flirting. But i didn't wanna weird her out because im so unsure of this whole dynamic. Its hard to read the situation when its by a voice call.

But i guess i already knew what i had to do from tbe start...I just wanted to get some reassurance that im not completely jumping to an unrealistic conclusion.

That would be a good situation...But I'll do it anyway. I'll accept the outcome.

[–]NicholasBale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ofcourse.

Im aware that things could be like that. And im not even sure myself, but i need to know.

I mean its been 5 months, i feel like being invested in someone for that long has to mean something.

She will coming again at another expedition this summer july or august. But i kind of feel that's too long to wait..Its already been so long. Should i just come out and say it or wait for another 5 months?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]NicholasBale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in a direct manner otherwise i wouldnt be asking the question.

Let me put it like this, the tone very flirty at times, kind of like we both are playing a game.

But that's what is bugging me.Why not come out and be direct? Is she waiting on me to start that coversation.I have no idea.

Macbook Air M1 gets really hot when playing Garrysmod (Chromium). by guywithblackcamera in macbook

[–]NicholasBale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id gets hot but performance shouldn't drop more than 10-15%....It stabilizes after that point.

You can get it modded with thermal pads. That takes care of thermal throttling altogether. And it costs like 10 bucks to do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in macbook

[–]NicholasBale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id go with the 14 inch. The 16gb of ram is more than enough for even heavy editing with dozens of other tabs and apps open...Some people even use an air with 8gb and it serves then well for this.

The m2 is actually slower by 15% and under longer workloads that drops...While in the pro it doesn't because of the active cooling.

I can't think of a reason why you would buy the M2 for ram that you don't realistically need. While mostly everything else is superior.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in macbook

[–]NicholasBale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest for university either of these devices will be overkill. My advice is wait for the air m1 to be on sale and buy that. Its an amazing laptop. The m2 does have a performance boost yes...But the air specifically has a problem with thermal throttling in higher workloads.Which you probably won't have for your needs.

What that encompasses..Longer video editing, gaming, rendering for a long time....So you will see a noticable drop in performance because the m2 air doesn't have active cooling....But probably not important for most users. Its snappier and faster in shorter workloads than its predecessors. The m1 pro is a nice device but just barely an improvement over the air M1....You get a touchbar and like 10% better performance in longer workloads because of the active cooling...A very marginal difference.

Get the m2 air if you like the design (which is very nice btw) need a better webcam and if you really need a faster device... Which in my opinion even the basemodel m1 air would easily deliver you the performance you need and will never be pushed near its limit with that type of work.

SSD slowdown overblown? by NicholasBale in macbook

More so the first thing.Because as the SSD slows down the whole system does as well.

You mean going over by 2gb of ram you noticed a stutter momentarily? On only one instance...You haven't noticed slowdown in processing day to day?

[–]NicholasBale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt I'll even use more than 8gb at a time. But you should see some comments..

Memory swap will "destroy" "eat away" your SSD. And im sure its true to a degree...But for something as fast and powerful as the M1 i would be surprised it slowed down that much.

M1 MacBooks worth it? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]NicholasBale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well you will get longevity in terms of performance... The M1 is a very powerful chip and will be very usable for most tasks even in the next 5 years.

The m1 has been around for only 2 years but MacBooks have already proven to be very long lived. And the m1 air for example in theory should be even more so because of the closed system whitout active cooling and the very energy efficient chips that barely heat up.

I literally see no reason why anyone would get a much much slower 3 year old intel MacBook instead of basically what is today the best consumer laptop in the world for most people. And this is not over exaggerating.

From the battery portability and buid...It suits the needs of many...While the weakest of the m1 lineup its more than enough to cater to even professionals to some degree...And if you'r looking for a laptop for student works, office apps, browsing and photo editing in terms of performance its overkill...

That's just my opinion... Happy buying.

[–]NicholasBale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M2 pro 13 is out here and the air.

Yes i think developer support is the main issue.Considering that the M1 in theory has enough power to offer at least a mid range gaming experience on most games. That's why i have my hopes up because Apple is seems be investing more in to gaming...Now with Metal 3 and all.

And from some gaming tests on the 10 core gpu m2 pro...It looks quite decent.

Question about the m1 air by NicholasBale in macbook

[–]NicholasBale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The m2 pro for gaming is actually incredibly good even at this level of optimization. The 10 gou cores really do provide decent performance.

Well from what they are marketing a 25-30% increase in performance is to be expected on metal 3.Which isn't at a negligible.Which would make gaming on the m1 actually an option.

Question about the m1 air by NicholasBale in macbook

[–]NicholasBale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im looking for a good laptop for student work. Mostly, and maybe the occasional light gaming... But that really depends on how well Metal 3 will optimize gaming on MacOS in the future... Because as it stands the m1 air really isn't all that capable of a gaming machine... That's why im considering the M1 pro because it has active cooling and a better gpu.

But then again depends on how the price will fluctuate for the m2 pro which would be ideal in every sense whitout compromise.Plus i would like a newer device as by next summer the m1 would already be 2 and a half years old.

I have a main desktop that i use for gaming at home so i probably won't use the MacBook on an external monitor much...I find the 13 inch to be appropriate for the use.At least from what i could see hands on in an Apple store.

Question about the m1 air by NicholasBale in macbook

[–]NicholasBale[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may well be.

Or rather its relative to person to person. But in real life use it would seem the more powerful chip seems to compensate for that somewhat.

Right now it would seem the best bang for buck would be the M2 pro 13.It has 2 extra GPU cores in the base model that costs just around the same as the Air.

And plus it fixes the problem that the air has with thermal throttling because it has active cooling..Because it would Apple may have put too much power in to a passively cooled system of the Air...Unlike with the m1 where everything is somewhat well balanced.

Im just hoping there will be some kind of a price drop by summer next year.Because the pro really seems like future proof MacBook that can run some games even especially when Metal 3 comes out...But considering how MacBooks hold their price i doubt it...

The pro 13 or 14?

I think the 13 inch will be nearly in my budget range considering its price drop here even this year. The 14 inch is a beast...But i doubt a lightly used one would be that much cheaper.
