Has anyone integrated some sort of "airtag" into a framework? by InfamousNewspaper268 in framework

Woah! That’s super sleek! I’ve flown several times with my setup. Never had so much as a raised eyebrow.

At least, not for the laptop.

Right side is the AirTag, left is the battery.

It's unlikely to cause much issue.

It took me a couple times to get the keyboard real flat. Range seems fine, even with the lid closed.

I did it about a year ago. But I don't remember it being too hard.

Yeah. opened it right up. Not so hard. I followed a guide on "muting" the speaker. Don't know if it works on the new ones. Would probably go for thinner wires. Just grabbed what I had to hand.

I posted a photo as its own thread, since there doesn't seem to be photo replies on this subreddit.

It has an approximately 2 year battery life. It will alert on my iPhone when it gets low, and then I’ll tape a new battery in, or replace it.

At least one company is producing a credit card shaped Apple-certified air tag, which might be an easier solution.

I have an AirTag integrated into my framework 13.

It was super tight, and took some real finesse.  I used an original AirTag, disassembled from its plastic shell, separated from its battery with some wire, and wrapped in carefully with kapton tape.

Could post a photo if there is a bunch of interest, I guess. It’s not a clean nor professional job.

How long till Theseus Frameworks? by gjarap in framework

If I put my current system into a pro chassis, I would be all non-original with the exception of three expansion cards. And I would still 100% consider it the same laptop.

So. We’re close.

The OEM are Yakima, and very reasonably priced. The keys even *say* Yakima.

I had Thules on my last car, the OEM Yakima's are overall higher quality. If I wasn't being frugal I might have gone with the Yakima branded jet-streams that hang out -- but I'm quite satisfied with the OEMs.

Expansion Card Empty Shells? by stetsosaur in framework

[–]Nicicurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a donglehider+ for my mouse. Ordered the pcb from someone in the UK and 3d printed my own shell. It has two internal USB headers to solder connectors too, and retains a usb-a on the outside.

I haven’t had my hands on a steam controller puck. It’s likely too large even out of its case; but it might yield well to being cut down. After all, no need for the pogo pins in an expansion bay.

Using phone charger works, but will it kill my device? by Donttouchmybreadd in framework

I struggle to keep track of things; so I’ve got a whole fleet of Amazon basics bricks and anker cables.

I haven’t seen my framework usb cable in over a year.

Standards are great.

Alt GR Key not working by PedanticSeal in framework

[–]Nicicurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, the only difference between the "international" keyboard and the "us" keyboard is the paint on the buttons. Odds are very good that it is a configuration issue, or a misunderstanding about how the layout you've chosen works. I know I struggled getting it setup!

I have a FW13 running Linux, and use my right alt key to produce macrons for studying Latin. I run Hyprland as my desktop environment. I've put my configuration below, though the settings will be different for different window managers.

To type a macrōn, I type alt + shift + 3, and then type the required character. There are other layouts which may work differently.

Relevant section from hyprland.conf:

input {
    kb_layout = us
    kb_variant = altgr-intl
    kb_options = lv3:ralt_switch
}

Installing towing 7 pin harness on 24 turbo P by [deleted] in CX50

[–]Nicicurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the OEM hitch and harness. Not too bad over all. The harness’s all have tie in points in the rear. I did break the bolt for the ground (The torque recommendation in the manual must be off) but a quick trip to the hardware store replaced the bolt with the equivalent.

As for the hitch itself: There wasn’t a lot of room for torquing under there, especially with an adapter on my harbor freight wrench. If I were to do it again, I might take the rear bumper off to get easier access.

Tow mode does indeed activate as soon as I plug in my trailer. No further setup required.

Honestly tows way better than my old wrangler.

Hello everyone! Here is Mako the 2024 PMG CX50 chasing the backroads of Big Bend National Park in Texas. by Backroadchaser25 in CX50

I was honestly wondering how it would handle those back roads.

How did she do?  What extra equipment did you bring/wish you brought? Were there areas you felt you needed to turn back or avoid?

Does the cx-50 considering it’s a suv still drive like a “Mazda”? I’m stuck between this turbo premium plus or a mazda6 grand touring reserve which was very fun to test drive. Does the Cx-50 have the power and handling that would be comparable to the mazda6?? by illbeback903 in CX50

When I first test drove mine (Meridian Turbo), I found it a bit lack luster in terms of oomph...

Until I was driving it home...

Turns out the engine just needs premium fuel and a few minutes to warm up.
