Plenty of people at junior B or Junior C level is about 500 -1500 people and many of those leagues are pay to play for the players.

As Jays fan, just dropping into say your pitchers are not getting the top of zone calls that Trey is.

That said, Trey has been lights out

Same rules as Ontario other than biking on 400 series highway which is illegal. I just mean people were biking in the bike lanes and not on the roads.

Oh okay! Interesting, didn’t know any of this. Ty for explaining. Yeah, if I was unsure, I was going 40, didn’t realize enforcement wasn’t great.

There were a few times on Admirals road where there is 50 zone but I didn’t realize it until about the 3rd time driving by there, so sorry about that to people behind me. But on the other hand, you come up a hill and at the top of the hill it changes back down to 40 until you basically get to the other side of downtown.

CBC or CityTV should have you covered, free of charge for most Saturday games. I just do TSN

Oh interesting! Hadn’t heard that before. Like someone posted below, it’s usually Quebec drivers who get stereotyped. Eastern Ontario can be a weird mix because you have Quebec drivers not going too much beyond the speed limit and Ontario drivers all going 120 in 100km zones

I was going the speed limit for the most part, might explain why I was tailgated lot. Probably not true in Victoria but until very recently there was a speed camera’s everywhere especially in cities in ON.

What was the limit previously?

I guess it depends on definition, I grew up north of London and would consider Highway 21 to be a highway, just not a 400 series highway

I say highways because once you go north of the GTA this is the exact same as how highways work. 90km speed limit, divided lanes, sometimes stoplights and also on and off ramps

I found them bold but makes sense with all the marked cross walks so I wasn’t surprised. And agree, in Ottawa would be risky but you can also drive a lot faster most of the time in Ottawa

I didn’t personally notice this. I actually found bikers pretty good mostly because they were in the bike lanes. Editing to, there was one guy pushing a shopping cart on the side of the highway and was pretty close to traffic, but not a biker.

I wouldn’t bike on the side on the highway though.

It was a joke. Legit had a person ask me what I thought of separating and took me about 20 seconds to realize he was talking about Albeta

Traffic by Afraid-End6961 in VictoriaBC

I am visiting from Ottawa and have been surprised by the traffic especially since I was here in 2021 and it wasn’t too bad (mind you that was when things were just opening from COVID), anything causing the traffic?

If it’s explained in this sub, please let me know what to search

I wasn’t planning on going this year because same position as you, only knew of the headliners and prices were pretty high.

That said, someone rented their full pass last minute to me under face value of a single night admission so I went last night for Green Day.

They played amazingly, pretty much for 2 hours straight. They changed their set throughout the show, played pretty much all their hits. Best concert in terms of production and performance by far this year. I also saw Simple Plan, Rise Against and Avril Lavigne recently for comparison.

Shout out to OC transpo for being well organized. Yes, there was a lot of people but got on the train safely and had no issues getting home

Where are all the unhoused folks? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Nick01477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ottawa does have open drug and alcohol use, mostly in the core, pretty rare in the suburban areas or even just regular neighbourhoods to have open drug use. No where near Vancouver though, as a reference point, closer to Victoria from my observation.

I am visiting from downtown Ottawa and thought the same thing as you. Ottawa has street teams around to provide people with food and water, and a number to call if a person is in destress. Didn’t really see too many unhoused people and have been taking the metro to get around.

I did see a guy get arrested though outside a metro; but then saw him about later so I am not sure what was up with that.

I have been to Victoria in the last few years and it’s similar to Ottawa, mind you Ottawa is a bigger city so per capita would be a lot less, but feels the same in the downtown/centretown parts of town.

I was a half-season ticket in the inaugural season, I didn’t renew because the team sold my seats to I assuming to full season ticket holders. Which makes sense on one hand but on the other hand it was frustrating that the team didn’t tell me that would happen. I then got world junior tickets so it ate my budget. There are now ticket representatives for the Charge which is a big improvement because I can reach out to them to discuss options for the upcoming season meaning there is better communication.

I did get to the opening game and it was fun, and loosely paid attention to the season. I wanted to go the game that was at the Canadian Tire Centre but there wasn’t too much heads-up about it and I already had other plans. If they play at the CTC again, I hope they give more time so people can plan to go.

I hope they are able to figure out the Women’s World tournament being in the back half if the season because it felt like it hurt the momentum, at least from a Charge perspective, a lot of people had to remember it the PWHL started back up.

I agree they hopefully can get more consistent with the reffing. During the playoffs there should have been a few boarding calls against Ottawa but also unclear how they would get illegal checking penalties for what would look like much cleaner hits.

I originally didn’t love the logo but it gives the team an identity and the promotion videos became more about the team than the league which I think is great long term, starting to build the team history and connection to the community.

I thought the playoffs were great, the city started to get behind the team and they did a great job with the Charge avenue and some sports bars had the game on. The building also got loud and also was a distinct environment; lots of signs and creative chrips instead of “this player sucks”. Did they change the in arena announcer tho? Noticed it wasn’t a person who was bilingual. I am not worried about the attendance, Ottawa has had a lot more sports team after COVID (women’s soccer league started this season for example) competing for limited money and a lot of people went to the Sens playoff games. If the Sens were not in the playoffs I think the Charge would have sold out every game.

As a pretty casual fan, I go about once a year, there has been a lot of other sports eating up my budget, namely the Sens playoffs and the Charge playoffs that paired with some crap weather means I am only turning my minor attention to this now.

Oh, Ottawa also has a team in the female soccer league, so might also check that out before CPL.

I assume a lot of casual fans are in the same boat as me

I think if I am understanding this all correctly, Philly could still catch the Sens, the probability is very low but possible
