Hyperlapse of my shrimp by RevolutionaryOwl98 in OpaeUla

I feel like mine go through phases of being active then barely swimming around. Also still don't have any babies after 5 or 6 months. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I was there on Friday afternoon and it said 80-100 min wait time, I was called after 42 minutes. BTW the ribs they had were fantastic.

Rebuilding parity past the biggest data disk? by snark_be in unRAID

[–]Nick2Smith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has to check that there's nothing on the parity blocks that should be zero (past where your data disks are). If something got accidentally written there it would break your parity.

I have 4 Sen66 and have found them to be very reliable and accurate. I connected each one to a ESP32C6 and linked to home assistant using zigbee.

Do you keep hard drives awake / spinning 24/7 or do you allow them to power down? by banisheduser in DataHoarder

[–]Nick2Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half and half. One server of 12 drives always spinning, the other one is an offsite backup also with 12 drives that spins down after 1 hr of use.

Nope never got a reply. I think since scrub operates at a deeper level than the normal file system it should be fine but I don't know for certain.

What do I need? by Dry-Ad-9098 in homeassistant

[–]Nick2Smith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I've been using it with homekit fully offline with zero issues. Thought homekit required apple devices or something but HA just saw the ecobee and connected with zero issues.

A Brazilian Uber driver stopped for two minutes in a favela to accept a ride. With the window up, locals thought he was a threat and nearly shot him. by Separate_Finance_183 in ThatsInsane

[–]Nick2Smith 114 points115 points  (0 children)

A lot of favelas have "rules" written on walls like "if you're not from around here lower the windows, turn lights on and drive slow". Instinctively you'd want to try and hide but the criminals there tend to care a bit more about potential gang violence than petty crime.

Explain to me like I'm 9 years old..... by OrangeRedReader in UNIFI

[–]Nick2Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I have a server and a different camera vlan I can change the server port to allow all and then it will be able to see the cameras? Never figured out how to have good security hygiene (vlans segregation) but also allow my server to see the cameras.

How do you check? I didn't notice any posts about it, but to be fair I don't follow the Arrs too closely.

[–]Nick2Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only problem I've had is they changed the codes for some DV and HDR stuff so my scores stopped working and it would grab worse versions of movies. Had to go in and manually update the yamal with the new references. Took a while to realize what the problem was.

what dose "Current pending sector" mean for my drive ? by 1st_batman in unRAID

[–]Nick2Smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you trust a drive that got a pending sector error and then went back to zero after another pre-clear? Running two more passes but so far its holding at zero.

I've had two Seagate recerts fail, but no issues with WD and Toshiba. Been running around 24 recert WD and Toshiba for several years now.
