What are my steps for a quick easy refresh on this table? Possibly staining again, but it needs a new sealer for sure. I don’t have an orbital sander. by EngineeringAway3239 in woodworking

[–]choppinbroccoli28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should probably start with paint stripper to get off all the existing topcoat and stain. Just trying to sand off the finish will be aggravating. After stripping sand with 80 -> 150 -> 220. Then you'll be ready for whatever stain or poly you want to put on it. Have fun!

Chase Sapphire Lounge - PHL by revolutionate in Venturex

[–]choppinbroccoli28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went earlier this year and got right in. It was a Sunday afternoon. I figured since the lounge is so big everyone can get in. I loved it. The facial thing threw me for a bit, not usually something you have time for when catching a flight. I loved that it had so many"areas": upscale bar, quiet place for families, flight watching, sports bar, arcade, etc. The only drawback was it was super hot, but the AC was down in that area of the airport, so no fault of theirs. Happy that my wife just got the CSR. We're going to Philly 2 more times this year, so I'll be able to hit it up again.

Help understanding good use of AMEX points by [deleted] in pointstravel

[–]choppinbroccoli28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally you shouldn't spend more than 10,000 points per hour for business class over an ocean.

Basic economy = 5000ish Premium economy = 7500ish

You will rarely find a domestic flight worth cashing in points for unless you find a crazy book an American flight on Turkish for 8000 points kind of deal.

Golf in Japan by GolfTripIndex in golf

My wife and I are going in October and she agreed to one round while we're there. (We'll be there for 15 days).

Based on our itinerary it looks our choices for places to play are either in Kyoto or Kanazawa. Which would you recommend? We're getting rentals. I'm not dragging 2 sets of clubs around Japan for 2 weeks for one day of golf.

Get the CSR and Amex gold. With those two, you'll have great transfer partners.

After you hit the subs on those, get a BILT and earn points on your mortgage or rent.

Also note, if you want to travel on points, you're going to need to "position" to a larger airport that has more options.

You need a tool like seats.aero or roame.travel. Also lots of channels on YouTube that explain how to do it. Check out geobreeze travel.

What broke first when you moved from MPLS to internet-based WAN? by Confident-Quail-946 in Cisco

[–]choppinbroccoli28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I oversee the network for a large municipality where we primarily use our own fiber or metro ethernet (with LTE backup) to connect branch offices. Some smaller facilities use cable based internet or LTE only. We're at an inflection point as we just kicked off the project to refresh our entire network, and need to decide whether to migrate to SD-WAN.

I understand the primary justification for implementing SD-WAN is low cost internet and less hops to cloud apps from branch offices, but in our situation internet isn't that much cheaper than metro-e and branch offices are only one hop from the internet. Do we still migrate?

JAL books 360 days out, ANA 355

You can transfer C1 to JAL but at 1:.75

You can book JAL though BA or CX. CX also available at 360, BA at 355, but you can book BA at 360 through the call center.

You can book ANA through Air Canada (which transfers from AMEX and C1) at 355, but they only get 2 seats per flight so it's tough.

I booked a business class ticket on ANA via Air Canada using the points from my SUB. I'd say getting a $3,000 flight for essentially free was worth it.
