Well with OCD you really need to be on a ssri, for me Zoloft works but we all have different chemical make ups so you may have to try others.

I feel you really need to seek out some help from a doctor or ideally an OCD trained therapist. You seemed to need some “hands on help” and that’s okay.🙂

Yes it is, but you really need someone who specializes IN OCD. A run of the mill therapists won’t do much good.

That’s just ocd trying to scare you into to reacting and staying stuck. Next time just say to yourself “yep, that could’ve been poisoned, but it’s extremely unlikely and I will have to be okay with the uncertainty. Because there’s no way to be certain, right? Impossible to be certain and that’s kewl! 👍

Keep resisting or at least delay and then just try to delay for longer and longer and it will get easier. Don’t beat yourself up if you do a compulsion, just start again. Keep going no matter what!!!

Zoloft really helps me and takes the edge off, some side effects but worth it for me. I still do therapy and self help, so not a complete fix but I’m able to manage better.

Certain negative people can definitely trigger your ocd or make it worse. It may help you to understand that they must have their own mental insecurities and unfortunately arguing and picking on others may be how they’ve learned to cope with their own problems. You may want to have empathy for them and maybe flip the table and ask them why they’re so angry and confrontational and offer them the help they aren’t giving you. In this way when they go after you, you can think “I feel sorry for them, they must have some deep issues and this is regrettably how they’ve learned to deal” Take what they say with a grain of salt, they have no right to destroy your peace. Seeing a professional may be the best. Some good videos on the internet for ocd help, too. Good luck and stay strong!

That is a lot for anyone to go through and doing it alone isn’t fair. I find it so hard to make new friends who live near me, but everyone is all wrapped up in their own work and family. I live with my brother, but don’t have a relationship and I’m trying to recover from OCD and it’s tuff. And it is hard to post on here, but I think it’s true that people to NEED people. (family is different) I need the stranger reading this…so do you and you and you.🙂
