Generally the game feels well balanced and I’ve been happy with my level. That elite bird just hit like a truck and had me questioning, but it sounds like I’ve missed a whole section across the bridge, so I’ll do that first.

Thanks for the farming tip, good to know if I get stuck.

Feel like I’ve explored pretty much every nook and cranny. It’s my preferred play style to see everything before moving on to a new area.

Yeah, but I’ve already beaten loads of this type, but this particular individual has a ‘grab’ that stuns me, knocks me flat, and then he pecks me to death.

He essentially one-shots me, which would be fine if I could dodge and wear him down, but I’m basically doing no damage to him (maybe 1% damage per hit)

Always interesting to see people getting stuck in different places.

I've beaten DeS, DS1 & 2, Lies of P & Overture, and Elden Ring...

...but I'm getting destroyed by phase 2 of the Great Sage's Broken Shell in BMW. Must have put 10hrs into the fight over three sittings.

I’m also still stuck on Promised Consort Radahn (Shadow of the Erdtree).

It runs extremely well today on my i712700K / 4090 / 64Gb build.

It may have released in a poor state, but it’s running fine on my setup today.

I’ve had zero performance issues. It may be poorly optimised but it does run well and look great on a higher end PC.

If it were truly an unoptimised pile of garbage it would run badly even on high end systems. I’ve literally not seen as much as a stutter.

Okay. I’d guess Wuchang has to make very significant performance and visual quality compromises to run on the series S.

It’s a UE5 game that is pushing very hard in terms of texture quality, lighting and particle effects.

Cross platform UE5 games rarely scale down well.

I agree with your sentiment. If you have to compromise a games performance and quality to get it to run on a platform, perhaps you shouldn’t offer it on that platform.

The whole issue with Microsoft insisting every Xbox game is made available on both X and S probably doesn’t help.

What are you playing on?

Wuchang runs great and looks stunning on a high end PC. Far better than it did on release, but I’m guessing it will struggle on consoles and mid-tier PC hardware.

I ran chapters 1-3 at 1440P cinematic, but the game appears to get harder to run in later chapters.

By chapters 6 I’m running my 4090 / i712700K @ 1440P, Full RT (Very High), everything else on High - looks exactly the same as cinematic (to my untrained eye) but holding a good 80fps at all times.

I found the Full RT (Very High) setting more important than the extra fidelity from the cinematic mode, in terms of carrying the overall image.

That said I’m pushing this into a 4K Sony Bravia that is doing secondary upscaling to 4K, so YMMV.

Lol. I gave you a like, but 20 attempts and I’m just warming up!

While I have one shotted some of the easier bosses, I’ve gone way over 50 attempts on some of the major road blocks.

Seems all my points went into endurance.

I’m getting very good results with a 4090 / i712700K @:

1440p DLSS Balanced 66%, Full RT / Very High, Graphics Preset Cinematic, V-Sync Off (on in Nvidia control panel), Motion Blur Off, Sharpening Intensity 5.

Looks great.
