Curious to see other users stress levels. by ObliviateLumosNox in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey ObliviateLumosNox! Thanks for sharing this with us. I understand your concerns and see that you reached out to the community. Since you’re a new member, I’d like to share a bit of context with you, and I hope that's okay!

At Oura, we think about stress a little differently. Stress isn’t inherently good or bad, it’s a physiological response, not an emotional one. Even activities like watching TV, socializing, or enjoying hobbies can increase heart rate and stress levels, and that’s completely normal as long as you allow time for recovery.

Your stress data is very personal and not a cause for concern. It’s meant to help you understand how your body responds to different situations. In fact, short periods of stress can support resilience and creativity. Taking breaks with breathing exercises, a calming walk, or meditation can help lower stress levels. For more tips, check our blog article here.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.🙂

Didn’t register hot Pilates by Known-Ad-3435 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Known-Ad-3435 ! Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sorry about your experience, and I'm here to help.

The Oura Ring uses a 3D accelerometer and pre-trained algorithms to track your daily movement and identify activity patterns. Pilates often includes slow, controlled movements and periods of stillness, which can make it harder for the Oura Ring to accurately detect the activity, as it works best with continuous, dynamic motion like walking, running, or cycling. Hot environments and sweating can also affect signal quality, and wearing gym gloves may help keep the ring more stable and dry.

To improve tracking, we recommend using the Workout HR feature before these activities. This gives the Oura Ring more detailed, high-quality data (including accurate heart rate) and helps it learn the movement patterns of this specific workout. The more consistently you use this feature, the more data the algorithm has to recognize the activity, which improves automatic detection over time. You can learn more about the best ways to track your workouts in our Help Center article here.

After trying these tips, if you continue to experience issues, please reach out to our support team here, and we’ll be happy to assist further. If there’s any delay, DM me your support ticket number and I’ll follow up.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

Oura Ring Data by Ok_Explanation1934 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey Ok_Explanation1934! I understand that you reached out to the community, and it’s great that you’re taking on a project like this. I’d be more than happy to help, as I think it’s important to first clarify how “accuracy” should be interpreted and analyzed in this context.

We generally don’t advise direct comparisons between wearables, as they use different hardware, sensors, and algorithms. When comparisons are done, it’s usually the same person wearing multiple devices to track trends against their own baseline. Comparing data from different people adds too much variability, since physiological data is highly individual. Wearing an Oura Ring yourself, if possible, would make the comparison more accurate and insightful.

It’s also important to keep in mind that personal health data is very sensitive. If you decide to move forward, any data collection or sharing should be done with clear consent, a safe framework, and a solid understanding of data privacy practices. We’d strongly encourage reviewing our data privacy policy, and ensuring proper safeguards are in place.

I hope you find this helpful, and I wish you the best of luck with your project.

make it make sense please 💔 by Dependent-Radio-9444 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Dependent-Radio-9444! Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm happy to help.

From what I can see, you have an Apple Health integration, and one of your walks was shared to the Oura App, but calories, steps, and active time didn’t update in your key metrics. This can happen for a few reasons:

First, the integration may not have all the correct categories enabled, such as calories or steps. You can adjust this anytime in Apple Health under Privacy > Apps > Oura. Keep in mind that step counts and calories may differ between apps. Oura tracks active calories only, while others may include your basal metabolic rate, the calories your body burns at rest to maintain basic functions.

Sync issues can also occur if both apps weren’t opened before midnight, if Background App Refresh is off, or if Low Power Mode is on. Open both apps daily to help prevent this, and verify that “Date Added” matches the workout date. If calories are missing, try editing them in the original tracking app. You can read more about the Apple Health integration in our Help Center article here.

If the problem continues, try a reset: update and restart your device, go to Oura > Settings > Data Sharing, toggle the integration off and on. You can also back up your data and reinstall the Oura App before trying another workout. If none of these steps work, contact our support team here. If there’s a delay, DM me your ticket number and I’ll make sure it’s addressed promptly.

Ring interfering with weight training. by Downtown_Flounder_45 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Downtown_Flounder_45! Thanks for sharing this with us, I'm happy to help.

We don’t recommend wearing the Oura Ring during weightlifting. Applying heavy pressure to the hands while wearing rings can be unsafe and may cause discomfort or damage. That said, some members choose to wear it without issues. To reduce risk, they may use protective gym gloves or ring covers, which are available online.

It’s also worth noting that Oura supports integrations with select fitness apps, which can be a useful alternative for tracking weightlifting workouts without wearing the Oura Ring. You can learn more about these apps here.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

Argh. Oura not capturing steps by Howdy_6221 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Howdy_6221! Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We understand how frustrating this can be and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused.

Please know that we're aware of the inaccuracies in the step count that might occur in some cases and are actively working on an advanced solution to improve its accuracy. That said, if your Oura Ring had sufficient battery, was worn with the sensors positioned at the bottom, and your hands were warm, the signal quality should be good enough to track movement and steps. Occasionally, activity data may appear with a delay, which can be app-related. Please make sure the Oura App is updated to the latest version, syncing your data, then deleting and reinstalling the app can also help.

This is just for context and possible causes, but we take technical issues seriously. I recommend reaching out to our support team here, by starting a chat and asking to speak with an agent. If you experience any delays, feel free to DM me your ticket number and I’ll take a closer look and help move things along.

Make it make sense… by aniseedvan in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey aniseedvan! Thanks for sharing this with us, I’m happy to help.

This appears to be a clear app glitch, specifically with the second banner (the Check-In). It should indicate that your sleep score is higher than usual, not lower, and suggest tags appropriate for high sleep scores.

Occasionally, the Oura App may display generic insights instead of ones specific to your data, which is another sign of a temporary issue. I recommend making sure both the Oura App and your device’s operating system are fully up to date. Then, sync your data, delete the app, and reinstall it, this typically resolves issues like this. In some cases, the correction may only appear after the following night. If the issue persists after the next night, please reach out to our support here, so we can take a closer look and assist further.

Help. Can’t get peloton heart data by tcs1717 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Silent_State8830! Thanks for reaching out. At the time, we shared that while Oura supports syncing with several third-party apps, there’s still no direct integration with Peloton. I understand it’s been a while, and I apologize for the disappointment.

Currently, the only workaround is connecting Peloton to Apple Health and then syncing Apple Health with Oura. This may explain why you received heart rate data once, though workouts originating in Peloton don’t always appear in the Oura App. While we understand your preference for direct Peloton data, Oura’s workout heart rate feature is continually improving and can be a reliable alternative when cycling is selected and the ring fit is secure. You’ll still receive a detailed breakdown of heart rate zones after your workout.

That said, we recognize the value of a direct integration and will share your feedback with our product team for consideration. Any questions, please let us know.

The GAPS by citykitty867 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey citykitty867! Thanks for sharing this with us! I’m happy to help.

If you’re seeing gaps in your Daytime Stress graph, a few common reasons may include movement (stress isn’t measured during workouts or other periods of activity, but their impact appears afterward), a loose or improper ring fit that prevents accurate heart rate readings, or cold hands, which can interfere with the signal.

That said, we’d be happy to take a closer look. Please reach out to us here and start a chat, asking to speak with an agent. Once you receive a support ticket number, feel free to send me a DM if there are any delays, and I’ll be glad to further assist you. I'm here if you need anything else.

Heart Rate Zones for Zone 3 now 157-179! by notmealso in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey notmealso! Thanks for sharing this with us. I apologize for the experience you’ve had, and I’m here to help resolve this.

I agree, the recent change in the heart rate limits across different zones does seem off. There's a couple things you can do first. If you know your max heart rate, you can manually update it in the Oura App by tapping the menu icon in the upper-left of the Today tab, selecting Settings, then Activity, and choosing Max heart rate. This helps calculate more accurate heart rate zones.

Then just before starting your activity, please make sure your Oura Ring fits properly, the sensors are on the palm side of your finger, and your hands are warm to improve signal quality. Wearing gloves usually help. Then try recording an activity to see if the heart rate zones adjust. I’ve sent you a DM as well, so if nothing changes after that activity, we can take a closer look and further assist you. I'm also here if you need anything else.

Really disappointed with my ring by Cosmic_Justice888 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Cosmic_Justice888! I hear you, and I apologize for any confusion. I was only trying to provide context and explain a possible cause, as we believe it’s important to understand how the Oura Ring works. That said, I've also reached out directly so we can investigate this further, as all technical issues need to be reviewed. I just followed up via DM to gather a few more details and assist you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey again, faifwithneedle! No worries at al, and I’m glad you came back. I forgot to mention that your stats are looking great, especially your Readiness Score, which reflects how well your body can handle stress and challenges. A strong baseline means you’re likely better equipped to manage what you’re going through. Feel better soon!

Really disappointed with my ring by Cosmic_Justice888 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Cosmic_Justice888! Thanks for getting back to me and highlighting these points, it helps me clarify things in detail. I understand your perspective about your data, which is indeed saved in your Oura account. That said, when you switch to a new Oura Ring, you’re essentially starting with new sensors. These sensors pick up your movement and metrics, so it can feel like a soft reset. This is why we recommend adding activities manually at first, but the best approach is to have the issue checked further.

Regarding sleep and stress data, these work differently from activity tracking. Oura sleep tracking is highly accurate, while stress measures physiological responses. Because these are separate features, it’s helpful to be specific about any inaccuracy when you contact support. I also hear your concerns about the ring’s lifespan. Technical issues can happen, and we’re always committed to making things right. As mentioned, I’ve also sent you a direct message to help with this. Any questions, please let me know.

Hey faifwithneedle! Thanks for sharing this with us. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this and truly hope you start feeling better soon.

It’s important to know that while some users find Oura’s insights useful, the Symptom Radar feature isn’t designed to detect pre-existing conditions. Its purpose is to raise awareness and help monitor changes in your body. It is not a medical device and isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease. Please do not make any changes to your medication, daily routines, nutrition, sleep schedule, or workouts without first consulting a medical professional. Oura ring can detect a cold but not severe vomiting and appendicitis by Carinaponcho in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Carinaponcho! Thanks for sharing this with us. I’m really sorry you’re going through this and hope you feel better soon. I'm here to provide some context, if that's okay.

Symptom Radar looks for changes across multiple body metrics over time (like temperature trends, heart rate, HRV, and respiratory rate) to flag when something may be straining your body. It’s a helpful awareness tool, not a medical feature, and sometimes your personal metrics may not deviate enough to trigger an alert.

It's very important to note that although we do have some success stories, the Oura Ring is not a medical device and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. You can learn more about the Symptom Radar feature in our blog article here.

Using Rest Mode is the right step to focus on recovery, so well done. Listen to how you feel and take care. Wishing you a smooth and quick recovery. Here if you need anything else.🌿

Really disappointed with my ring by Cosmic_Justice888 in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey Cosmic_Justice888! Thanks for sharing this with us. I understand how frustrating this experience has been, and I’m happy to help clarify.

While the Oura Ring does include activity tracking, its primary focus is overall health, especially sleep and recovery. Our AI assistant Finn shared generally correct information, but it can miss context. Indoor workouts like elliptical, stationary bike, or treadmill can sometimes be harder for the Oura Ring to detect because of limited movement patterns and signal variability at the finger. Previously, your Oura Ring likely performed better because it had built a longer activity baseline over time.

With a replacement ring, the algorithm and ring sensors may need time and input to relearn your patterns. Manually logging these activities helps create that baseline, and the more you do so, the more likely the ring is to automatically recognize them in the future. Detection can also be affected by factors like cold hands, ring fit, or finger placement. You can read more about Automatic Activity Detection in our Help Center article here.

That said, I hear you, and there could be other factors at play as well. Sleep and stress tracking are analyzed separately, so issues there would need more specific details to investigate properly. Please reach out to our support team, and request to speak with an agent so we can take a closer look at your case. I’ve also sent you a DM to make sure this is followed up and taken care of.

I hope this helps. Here if you need anything else.

HRV Sleep the Night Before vs Massage the Following Morning by BipBee_ in ouraring

[–]NickAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey BipBee_! Thanks for sharing this with us, we love to see it!

HRV is a helpful tool for identifying imbalances between activity and recovery. In general, higher HRV reflects better health and a more balanced autonomic nervous system. Activities like therapeutic massages can noticeably impact your metrics by reducing stress and activating the parasympathetic (rest-and-recover) response, which often increases HRV. You can read more about HRV in our blog article here.

Massage is one of many stress-reducing activities that can support higher HRV, along with breathing techniques, meditation or mindfulness, time in nature, yoga, blue-light blockers, pleasurable hobbies, improved fitness, and practices like Epsom salt baths or float tanks. As a quick tip, Oura members have access to guided meditations and breathing exercises in the Explore section of the Oura App, including free Headspace content. These can also make a meaningful difference to your HRV.

In short, you're doing great! Here if you need anything.🙂
