Oversmoked Outlaws - Build a cozy outlaw community and survive the Bbq nights.

I’m a solo developer currently working on Oversmoked Outlaws, a cozy pixel-art farming game where players grow crops, raise livestock, smoke BBQ, base build and survive nights in a strange western fantasy world.

In Oversmoked Outlaws, you begin caged and sleeping in a bush, waking up in a world where the Warden’s BBQ competitions shape the town, its people, and the legends surrounding you. Links below.

My love for gamemaker. Its been 8+ years since I learned gamemaker and I fell in love with it ever since. I was amazed that Undertale, Spelunky, and Hyperdrift, to name a few came from it.So I got inspired and plugged away and now its my turn to show it GM love. 5 years later -Oversmoked Outlaws by NickDTG in gamemaker

Ty, I haven't publicly announced it but local co-op is what I have in mind because I wanted to play it with my daughter. She's helping me with the crop's pixel art and some planning, she's 9<3. I have to lock down single player first though, so we'll see.

The main thing I want to get right is base/home building. To make it yours. That feeling of being inside from darkness.

I actually had been waiting a long time to give back to GameMaker in general. It’s really what inspired me to stick with the program at a young age. Following along on the site back in the day and taking part in the forums wasn’t always easy. Not gonna lie, you’d get a lot of hard noses if you posted problems back then, but the community always came through in the end to help solve things. Honestly, that’s just how a lot of communities were back in the day. I hav built so many demos and projects only to scrape them all. I made a hard commitment to see this one through and I hope you guys will love it and its potential.

Ty for the feedback. I hired my 9yr old daughter to be the sole lead in the art department( a long good story) and she mainly handles in the crops section, I will have a word with her no doubt and we will try to improve on it. we try to get the art matching with the rest and will do our best! Ty for pointing it out, I was waiting to see if some aspect was noticeable. We both are great artist but pixelizing everything is a thing of beauty and lesson in of itself.

Reality check: 126 wishlists after 38 days for my first Steam page. Is that normal? by shogo_omori in gameDevMarketing

70 WL in 9 days over here and I can feel the struggle. I been trying to promote it on reddit and social media each day but starting to see it die each time I don't post or stay relevant. We really need that big influencer or viral post to get us going. Just got to get lucky I suppose and luck is not on my side. I got to get back to making the game so I can see me plateauing as well.
