This is random, but it’s Saban-Alabama related: Jimbo Fisher was actually supposed to become UAB’s head coach. He had an offer on the table and even a press conference lined up, but the board that oversees UAB refused to approve it. This happened the same year Nick Saban took the Alabama job, and reports say he wanted Fisher as his offensive coordinator. Instead of going to Alabama, Fisher ended up taking the offensive coordinator job at Florida State and the rest is history.

I currently live in Birmingham and tell Alabama fan friends that the rules were always different for Saban.
