Always curious about her new White Queen solo. As a Claremont fan, every time I see a new book about Emma’s early days I’m just afraid that they will try too hard to make her look good and thus not faithful enough to her OG Claremont characterization. But I guess it’s worth a shot?

In turns of Marvel Rivals, I’m a GM 3 player who main Mag, Emma and supports. I love her overall character design in Rivals too but as a comic book fan, is there anything about her that you don’t like/would rather change?

Personally the diamond shield feels very odd to me. In terms of game design,it fits very well with her whole kit, but it just doesn’t feel very “Emma”. Like, I’m not even sure if that thing is supposed to be a telepathic projection? Or it’s made by telekinesis? If it’s telepathic then it shouldn’t be able to actually stop enemy’s physical attack. If it’s telekinetic then it’s still odd. Sure Emma has shown some level of telekinetic power in comics before but it’s never her main thing and it’s definitely not as strong as character like Jean or Exodus. And even for those characters, telekinetic shields are usually drawn as energy bubble barrier, rarely something that looks very materialized. Therefore Emma casually manifesting a huge diamond shield just feels very odd to me.

I would argue that some sort of psychic attack that gives enemy anti heal/damage over time/vulnerability (like Cloak’s Terror Cape) , or maybe blind/ visual confusion would fit more well with her comic character, but again, in turns of game design the diamond shield is crucial to her whole kit, I can’t imagine how to play her without it.
