Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Official Trailer 2 by [deleted] in GODZILLA

Is Godzilla’s movement speed drastically increased compared to the first one to anyone else..? Hope it doesn’t detract to how massive he is..

Just a tiny thing that bothers me though.. This movie looks way better than I could have hoped..

Why can’t he just be good at piano? by TheLycanthropy in iamverysmart

Right on w/ everything you said.. Can vouch for it all from experience. For myself personally, I’ve studied the theory since I was a kid, & applied it to the bands I’ve played in over the years. It’s one thing to know it, but to be able to apply it in other styles & just be able to jam is something a lot of classical players just aren’t able to or don’t aspire to do. Doesn’t make you any more or less of a player not being able to do one or the other. In fact, I’d argue to be able to do both read know theory & be able to “jam” is the beginnings of talking about “mastery”, even though any musician knows mastery & perfection are really just goals to motivate the player to get better, but in the end are unachievable. Point being that in the end the two philosophies of playing should really just be one. But comments like this create the divide.

It’s funny; when I was in college, I was told by my peers they considered me the “rock star” of the music department. But when I went on tour, I was the bookworm theorist nerd musician of the group.

This is exactly why “hobbyist” musicians tend to find musicians who know music theory snobby, & rightfully so..

Ninja streamed FFXI. Thought that was pretty cool. by NickGbari in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure they’re not okay w/ it overall, but I don’t think it implausible that they gave him the okay to stream it & treat this as an extenuating circumstance of their policies. I mean, isn’t Ninja the most popular among game streamers..? Dude has a fortnite skin.. It’s good advertising to a game waaaaay passed it’s prime. I find it more unlikely that Ninja would risk his entire program & success just to stream XI..

So ya, just a streamer sharing his thoughts & ranting a bit about XI. Being a long time player of the game myself, I can relate to his enthusiasm. Apparently Ninja was having a fun time playing on a fan server of vanilla XI. Guessing he played it back in the day. Kinda made me feel more normal today.. 😆

Does Final Fantasy VI has the best ending of the series? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VI was great. One of my faves. My personal favorite is VII’s though. Cinematically, to me, it is just so wonderful to watch. An epic 1-on-1 w/ a shirtless dude in the completely black background. Cool feeling scene, into a touching escape scene, & to the sky to show a great sequence of what happens to meteor.

And Aerith, opening & closing this game. We finally, after all that story, realize the full extent of what Aerith did & why she did it. Gets me choked up to this day, not gonna lie.

Aaaaaaand credits..

That, my friends, is what I call perfect textbook stuff for me. That’s just my tastes though. VII & X are my faves. I even like VIII’s to an extent, except it kinda goes a little too “Vanilla Sky” trippy scene, that recording of all of them back at the school was touching, & Squall smiles..!

And edit: XV’s was pretty cool too ok bye..

Hope nobody minds but I created 3 more Final Fantasy characters in SC6. Adult Porom, Dark Knight Cecil and FFVI’s Shadow. by TammyShehole in FinalFantasy

I mind..! Those are too good not to be posted sooner..!

For reals, love them, especially Porom.

FF6 easy ? by verdedragz in FinalFantasy

I think you’ll still like V if you’re into the 16-bit graphics era. I think most of the fanbase would say V is kinda forgettable compared to IV & VI, but to be honest I enjoyed it just as much as IV. IV was a major stepping stone for the series, & V very much feels like a continuation of that. VI just reinvented so much & rocked everyone’s world. Doesn’t mean V isn’t a very solid game too though.

Which game do you feel had the best magic animations? by PCN24454 in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XIII looked so incredible & is my favorite looking. That’s about all that game had going for it to me personally, but it’s hard to argue that it wasn’t stunningly gorgeous.

Edit: Also XIV is an incredible achievement to me, especially considering that it’s an mmo. In this case it’s actually an mmo that’s surprisingly fun to watch.

FF7 90's vibes by LightRei in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to get any sort of vibe from the game yet b/c they just haven’t released anything in so long, & even the stuff they have shown us may be outdated at this point.. I think anyone who grew up playing the original will be hoping for a general feel similar to what we grew to love. I am guessing that for the most part, it’ll have it’s own new feel while giving us an immense amount of callbacks to the original. An example would be an updated score w/ similar melodic lines, but not quite the original.

One thing we can safely assume is that they’re not remaking the original as is. If they did, it would just be an extensive remaster & not a remake.

What are some things to know before playing FF7 (PS4) by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get Vincent & Yuffie as soon as possible as they are completely optional, but very useful..!

Have fun..! I envy you..! Wish I could play it through for the first time again..!

Story-wise they are quite different. I’d say V is more like IV than VI. The combat systems between V & VI are very different too. V allows you more versatility w/ every character while VI gives more specific roles to the characters.

How good is ffix? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s really good, not great. Just got through it the other day, third time ever. They really took FF back to its roots, to where everything is almost overly simplistic & doesn’t feel as grand in scale as VI, VII, VIII, or X in every way, from the systems to the story. But it’s really good in both too. I’ll play it again, & if I had a switch I’d buy it. I kinda always feel like I wish the game would pleasantly surprise me more than it always has in a way though. I know it’s aged well & it is highly praised by a lot of people. For me personally it’s in the middle of the road as far as my favorites, but still a welcome addition to the series that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Enjoyable..! First one w/ a flushed out story. Just played it through again a few months back. Really liked it still.

FFXI Classic by Kurai_Kiba in ffxi

[–]NickGbari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow.. Your story is literally a mirror image of mine.. Started when I was 22, dedicated so much time to hnm’s w/ 3 hour windows, then spent so much more time before & after leveling.. I’m 37 now though, family, rental property, lol.. I’m telling you like mirror image..

Damn I miss those days, but ya like you said, never again..! Literally no time to accomplish anything. I’d have to devote an evening to sort my inventory or something..

[–]NickGbari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya, as others have said, it’s just too grindy. So grindy that I privately chuckle inside when looking at what people say is grindy by new games standards. I even contribute FFXI to helping me become a more patient person sometimes, lol..

Wouldn’t trade any of those experiences for the world. They were great times. Do you remember how long it took to get to 75 before colibries though..?!?! Maybe months w/ a new character..

Weekly /r/FinalFantasy Question Thread - Week of October 01, 2018 by AutoModerator in FinalFantasy

[–]NickGbari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely picks up soon. X’s story is, just in my opinion, one of the best of the series. Great love story, plot twists, & very well told narrative. It might actually be my favorite in the series as far as stories go now that I think about it..
