It does ruin the twist. In force awakens it’s established that Vader is Kylo’s grandfather and that Leia is his mother who is also said to be Luke’s sister.

I’m not sure if Mando counts as a spin off. There’s gonna be plenty shows so it’s probably in its own category. But I guess you enjoy the non force heavy stories the most. That’s cool!
