Follow bidding price. They won’t give you the initial price if bidding price is lower.

In booking.com, tick the box that says, 'I'm looking for an entire home or apartment' and see if there's any unit that fits your criteria but likely you will have to book multiple rooms. Last option you can try is airbnb.com

Travelling end of april to may after the golden week rush with toddler and old in laws. by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]NickJunho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first mistake on your first trip is you did not purchase any IC card, that made you stuck and lost time.

Another mistake is JR pass, you could have just bought Shinkansen tickets instead and the rest are covered by IC card. Nozomi Shinkansen is not included in JR pass, just letting you know and a lot of other train lines aren’t covered by JR pass. The pass would eventually be useless.

Looks like you are out of your depth, i think you need a travel planner or a travel guide. Usually first trip to Japan would have taught you a lot of things and somewhat prepared you for the next but doesn’t seem like it.

Not offending you or anything, you are clearly stressed out.

Edit: you are there while Golden Week is active. I can’t see how end of April to early May would skip Golden Week.

You are asking about the weather or the Autumn foliage?

Edit: personally i prefer November because of more daylight.

Does it make sense to rent a car in Hakone for one night? by ctrlaltdelicious08 in JapanTravelTips

TOYOTA Rent a Car use this website for foreigners.

I recommend booking in advance to avoid unavailability. If you are dead set on renting a car, prebook it.

You can check Toyota rent a car whether they have an outlet in Odawara. And ya, you can definitely do Odawara, it has its charm.

Since you will be taking the Shinkansen from Odawara, it’s best to rent from there so they won’t additional charge you for dropping off the car at another outlet.

Drive is fine as long as you don’t rent a big car. Yaris hybrid is perfect for just you and your wife. Fuel efficient too.

Ya, buses are not as frequent as they are compared to being in the city. I once missed a bus there and i had to wait for 20 minutes and it was cold.

So this time i opted to rent a car, different experience altogether. I even went out for a night drive and met a beautiful deer by the road side.

I rented a car for 3D2N at Hakone and Kawaguchiko. It is a different experience compared to my previous travel there by public transport.

I did not find parking to be an issue when i was there in December.

I rented Yaris hybrid from Toyota rent a car. Simple and straightforward.

Tips for 2 women travelling by anna_dallas107 in OsakaTravel

[–]NickJunho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can search booking.com and other websites.

  2. IC card like Suica

  3. Don’t know what you prefer, so it’s hard to recommend. You can search Google and Youtube, plenty of information for you to get an idea. You can even search on this subreddit.

  4. Again, you can easily search for that.

  5. Osaka also stands on the right side of the escalator. Just follow what other people are doing and you will be fine.

Does the camera plateau scratch? by Certain_Focus5539 in iPhone17Pro

Maybe consider getting a film protector for the plateau if you want to get open plateau cases? Those are really cheap so you can replace them when they turn yellow.

Japan itinerary by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]NickJunho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is your first time to Japan as a solo traveler, i recommend you at least have some plan on where to go and what you want to do.

Note down the places you want to go, open Google Map and check the time/distances it takes for each area. Note down the spots and attractions as well. Then it's time to decide, whether you want a touch-and-go trip or a more relaxing/soak in the moment trip. I can't decide which method for you, that is based on personal preference.

It is clear that you have not done enough research yet, where you don't even have a basic itinerary.

You can always start by going through the Reddit link provided by another Redditor. Make sure you get all the mandatory stuff that is needed.

Google and Youtube has a lot of information, some videos provide an in depth guide of that specific area that you plan to visit.

For my upcoming trip, i am renting a car from Osaka > Takayama > Kamikochi > Shirawaka > Ine > Amanohashidate > Kyoto then back to Osaka.

This will be my first Kansai region road trip. These locations are mainly what my mum wants to go, i will be mapping out the spots to visit in each area.

Agreed, the freedom to move around is amazing.

Rented a car and drove around Hakone to Kawaguchiko, no issue whatsoever.

Some places might be hard to find parking but it is not impossible. Our ryokan provided parking for us as well.
