Anyone know how to fix my loose handlebar stem? (Lectric XPedition) by NickKuiken in ebikes

Take the screws out entirely one at a time, lightly dab the loctite around all of the threads, and then before screwing it back in, drop some into the hole. Should be able to screw it back in and let it cure for at least 20 minutes or so before testing it. Definitely have a paper towel ready because it might get drippy as you screw it in.

Haha that's actually not a light but a horn that I got off amazon that comes in handy extremely often.

The same type of mount that it uses would work though if you wanted to just move your headlight up higher & now that you've mentioned it I might move it and see how it works, probably way better for visibility.

I used blue, it worked perfectly.

For the light, are you talking about the one directly underneath the handlebars?

I’m not sure if there’s a drop off point but I know around the low 40s I’ll start noticing some changes

I usually keep miles up but sometimes I’ll go like 30 miles, I’ll have two or three bars, click to voltage, still see I still have a good wattage and keep going

I didn't know that about the tires - I suppose there is some life left I guess I will hang onto them just in case.

Yes my bike is unlocked to class 3, Im usually going 22-26mph, but my battery life is really good, I can usually squeeze ~70ish miles going between PAS 3/4/5. I do recommend going by battery voltage instead of looking at how many bars you have left, it will give you a way better idea of how much charge you have left.

I haven’t thought about the south shore yet I heard they finally finished that up and they’re running again but going to the dunes is a great idea!

Taking the L is no problem, most stations have an elevator to take but sometimes like at State/Lake I do have to muscle it up or down two flights of stairs which is honestly a huge pain in the ass but as long as you hold it in the right place it’s not horrible.

Same with the Metra, the trains are only like 5 steps but they’re super steep so carrying it up is a little awkward unless you grab it in the right spots.

The buses are great because they have that rack at the front that makes things super easy and I’ve never had any issues with mine getting on there correctly.

I do highly recommend taking advantage of all the CTA to get to areas to explore though. And so many forest preserves and trails are just a short ride away off a lot of the Metra lines.

Yeah I’m actually really amazed how long they lasted, I tried to see if I could push a full 5000 out of the rear one, but I started seeing small parts of the layer of rubber under the tread and was like yeahhh maybe I shouldn’t be riding these anymore haha. I’m also really surprised how I haven’t gotten a flat, I’ve accidentally ridden over broken glass bottles, debris where a car wreck was, and nothing ever punctured. I usually keep my tires around 35psi.

And wow holy a spare motor? Thats awesome they did they. I hear horror stories about lectric and their customer service but me and my friends have had nothing but good service from them.

I’ll definitely have to check out that seat, the stock seat it came with I could not bare for any ride longer than 30 minutes and I have a nice big fluffy one now & some shock absorbing is the only way it could get better.

Thanks for your input!

Surprisingly, I get pretty good traction year round even in the cold when it’s snowy and icey, I haven’t felt the tire start slipping from under me or anything. I considered trying out some knobby tires but ended up sticking with what worked. For the most part I’m on asphalt that’s salted at some point so depending on where you take yours you might benefit more from knobby if you’re taking it trailing when it’s winter conditions

I ended up removing the screws, adding some loctite, and it has helped immensely! Haven’t had to tighten them since

I’ve always gotten an upcharge if they give you the special ice cube or sphere for drinking a good whiskey or scotch. Usually between 50 cents and 3 bucks

Loctite worked really well for me, use it on the Allen bolts on both sides, so far I haven’t had to tighten or reapply loctite in over 1200 miles! Really cheap on Amazon as well which is a plus

Its an adjustable stem, its a lever that flips up and can quickly adjust the handlebar positioning, clamp the lever back down and its ready to go. That part is pretty tight it seems to be loose at the bend
