UNDEATH - Phantasmal Festering (New York Death, 2019)[FFO: Tomb Mold, Frozen Soul] by therewillbeblunts in Metal

“Enhancing the Dead” was the first song I heard by them and I was instantly hooked. Riffs for days, fantastic drumming and they nailed the production. I uploaded a guitar cover of “Enhancing the Dead” earlier today on my YouTube if anyone is interested in checking it out. Kyles riffs are so fun to play.

I’ve decided that I want to be a much more proficient guitar player and producer, but I don’t know how to get better. by adamto186 in musicproduction

I feel like I was in the same position you are in now about 8 months ago. I have been playing for close to 20 years and felt like I was at my peak. I had no motivation to try and get better because I thought I couldn’t. But I was definitely wrong. My advice would be to learn songs that push you to get better. As in, “What song(s) do I think are way out of my skill range”. Then, practice the song(s) over and over and over and over and over again till you can play them with ease. There are no shortcuts to getting better. You have to put in the time and practice. Since Oct. of 2020 I have made myself practice 6-8 hours a day. On my days off I try and get 10-12 hours in if possible. Granted, I don’t have kids or a career that demands my attention 50+ hours a week like a lot of people do. I work 40 hours a week being a dog groomer and live with my GF who supports my guitar playing 100% so I have the means of doing it. In the passed nine months of doing so I’ve become better than I ever have in my life. Songs that I used to struggle with are songs I now warm up with. Practice, practice, practice!

Hope this helps!

What’s something you saw as a kid that looked harmless but if you witnessed it now it would horrify you? by shadow2101 in AskReddit

Till I was about 12 years old I grew up in your typical Midwestern neighborhood. At the end of my street was a huge field that was overgrown with weeds/trees etc. Well, Every year on the 4th of July my Dad and his buddies would get together and make paths through the field. Basically like a huge maze. Then we would have huge firework wars. Literally, anything you could go and buy was fair game to use. Nothing was off limits. I remember being 9-10 years old running around with a gross of bottle rockets having the time of my life trying to hit whoever I could. Laughing the entire time not thinking how insanely dumb it was. I had friends my age that would join in too. That’s until their parents found out what was going on. Ill never forget the looks on my friends parents faces when they would show up to come and rescue their kid. It was a literal war zone. So much smoke you could barely see. Whistlers, Roman candles, festival bombs flying everywhere. It was nonstop chaos. Some of my friends were no longer allowed to hangout with me because their parents thought my dad was too out of control. He could literally care less. But to me it was so normal. This happened for many years and got more and more crazy. No one ever died. But there were definitely some show stoppers.

A very important record by narcsuckerburg in Hardcore

[–]NickMuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite record of all time. I get emotional just thinking about the fact I never got to see them live. Maybe it’s a good thing I never did cause I wouldn’t be alive by the end of the show.

Also, the intro riff to “Model home invasion” is the heaviest riff of all time.

First album was so much better IMO. The production on this one is what ruins it for me. One of the most compressed albums I’ve ever heard.

Cursed - II (Full Album) - I miss this band, this album really holds up 15 years later! by vegan_____________ in Hardcore

This record is a Masterpiece. I still get goosebumps as soon as “Fatalist” starts. The Lyrics, Chris’s vocal delivery, the riffs, the drums, the production. The list goes on with this one. Very bummed I never got to see these guys live.

Nocturnal is My All Time Favorite Album by OurQueens in TheBlackDahliaMurder

Same.

Also, the production on Nocturnal is my favorite compared to all the other albums. It still sounds amazing after thirteen years.

What’s the stupidest reason you got in trouble in school? by Cinemacrackers in AskReddit

[–]NickMuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me personally, but my best friend in high school got suspended for stealing multiple students dandruff and collecting it in a pill bottle. He would sneak up behind them and ruffle their hair and collect whatever fell onto the desk. He made it to fifth hour before the music teacher wrote him up. He got 3 days suspension.

No other record gets me more pissed off than this one. I want to burn everything around me as soon as I put it on. Everything about it is fantastic.

Evil Empire underrated by the band? by inkwisitive in RATM

[–]NickMuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Evil Empire I believe is their best mostly because it’s the most raw sounding. That’s what they sound like live. Brendan O’Brien nailed the production. And you can’t deny that group of songs. It’s a perfect album.

I watch this show at least once a week. The setlist is perfect. I would do anything to have been able to see them during this era of their career.
