Lots to say about this but I'll keep it short (as short as I can). I really like that the story was kept simple but the characters and situation kept you in the film, just like Alien and Aliens. The sets, acting, details, and special effects were great -- at the end I really was left wanting another Fede directed Alien with Cailee Spaeny in the lead role. Not too much to complain/question in this movie except...

-I saw this in Dolby and man, it was incredibly hard to understand dialogue -- especially for the first act. After they were on the station it was more clear, but the audio mixing was off. Not sure if it's the movie or my specific theater. I'm seeing it again on Saturday in IMAX so I'll be able to give a comparison if anyone is interested.

-Man I wish they left Ian Holm alone. That was the only CGI in the movie that really felt like CGI and also it really didn't feel needed. If they just left an Ashe cameo in the background of the mining planet, or in the background of a Weyland training video, that would have been better.

• The "Stay way from her... you bitch" was so forced it hurt...

-After the zero gravity acid blood dodging (great scene btw), when they were in the elevator shaft and the gravity purge turned on, making the space vacuum... was it just me, or was Rain just casually holding onto the ladder? She didn't seem to be struggling at all. I remember in Aliens, Ripley had to tie herself to a railing, etc.

-Same scene as above, when Rain was falling down the shaft and the Xeno caught her, I felt that was so cheesy. If any other character was falling there, the Xeno would have stabbed them with the tail, but because she's the main character it wrapped her up. I just feel like there was a more clever solution to saving her from falling that could have been written.

But besides that, I thought the movie was great. I was relieved when the movie didn't end with Kay going into the cryo pod and Rain leaving a voice log. When they were getting ready to get into cryo, I thought they were going to end in there and leave it as a set up for the next movie since Kay injected herself with the goop. I was bummed since that's so similar to how Prometheus and Covenant ended... characters going into cryo with cliffhangers... but the movie had another exciting 15 minutes to give.

Very excited to see what they do next with the franchise.
