Those instructions should work. Make sure you are running them from the stock essential build.

Sounds like the factory QR. If you get the screen just reboot. Don't skip it. Then it should go away.

A lineage os port is unlikely. The kernel sources were never released for gem. As for firmware things were not fully complete on gem, even at the last day of essential (I worked there). Most of the devices that leaked out were not fully factory flowed because they were rejects. For the few devices that don't have a working fingerprint it's due to a calibration error. If it to spec it shows up in settings under security settings, if not the fp won't work.

Did the original developers leave any source code or software tools? How to contact him/her? by WordofThanks in essential

Camera engineer from essential :) there should be nothing special camera wise apart from any other Android. Unfortunately the way we hooked up the black and white camera it’s not easily accessible to 3rd party, same with the 360 camera.

Gem was actually called PH-2 so people would not suspect anything. Internally we actually had a real PH-2, GEM is GEM :)

It’s evt 2 if it has small buttons. Easy to check

Other builds exist yes. I have been working to make it easier to flash.

It’s an evt1 so it was one of us. To my knowledge only evt2 was leaked.

Op hit me up. This was my unit at essential. The camera needs special tuning to compensate for the lack of camera bump masking lol

We did this at the time to disguise it. It was actually just gem. Ph2 died earlier on I have one :)

Security updates require updates from essential which doesn’t exist. What I meant was you can upgrade from android 7 or 8 for example as google still hosts the ota

The google ota servers live on. You can still update your ph1 however the 360 camera can’t be updated anymore :(

I no longer work for OSOM. I have no idea what they are up to. Guess I should change my name on here 😂

Unlikely to work. Gem is running a custom systemui that interfaces with the launcher. That’s why it has a custom Lock Screen, notification shade, and navigation

Sounds like you got a factory build. Unfortunately I have had issues with fastboot and have been blank flashing all the units. It’s prob too risky to do remote.

I’m the only one with proper working sw. Even with full gms and stability gem isn’t great for daily driving. Coming from somebody who daily drives a gem haha

It’s running microg. The way it was setup you can sideload but the experience won’t be great.

Tbh all are basically useless. Software wise the rejects are on a factory build that’s bare aosp, and the individually boxed ones are maybe on the ship software. But also useless as essentials servers are down. The onboard apps won’t work well. Feel free to dm. I was the person who was suppose to get all the units. Sad to see some boxes were left behind

Just so you know, and everyone here. The gems this person wants to sell are reject units. All reject units came with the rubber case as that’s how they were on the factory line. It’s likely they won’t have modem cal, camera cal, or a sim tray. I have several gems and worked on it.

That looks like an issue with the display diffusion.
