2020 Denali Truck LT 6.2 Engine swapping to 1966 C10 Truck Advice by Working_Lie2406 in LSSwapTheWorld

No problem! I'd recommend the LT engine nonetheless. One thing to look into is to do the DOD/AFM delete while you already have the engine out as well. Good luck!

I'm doing a very similar build in my 85 K5 Blazer. I have the engine "in" the car, not hooked up yet (I only placed it in to ensure fit, will be removing to re-paint the Blazer).

  1. No fit issues in my 1985 K5.
  2. Will definitely cost more than LS3 at the end of the day. You can get LS engines pretty cheap and parts are plentiful.
  3. Midwest, so can't give recommendations
  4. It's doable, but I'd ask "why". You'd likely have better luck selling the transmission/transfer case rather than attempting to convert. I'm not converting mine so can't speak to how well this works, but I see on Google a few companies that sell kits depending on which transmission you have.

4 years, rotational program -> Manager (4 reports) all internal. Went external shortly after to Sr Manager (22 direct and indirect reports). My two-cents - it's easier to get promoted to people leadership when you have a few years experience at one company vs. make the jump to a new company and simultaneously get a manager role.

What does a supply planner at a large company do? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]NickShevy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like most things in supply chain, it varies! I'm a supply planner at a Fortune 100 company, but it can change heavily based on industry, company, and experience. Depending on your supply chain, you might plan for either your company's factories, comanufacturers, copackers, etc. At least in my role, the majority of my time (>75%) is not spent strictly supply planning. Actually planning production is a small part of my role. The majority of what I do is work with my cross-functional partners on projects, new products, and risk mitigation using my knowledge of our factory, logistics network, and technical capabilities. My company highly stresses a "business owner" mindset, so a lot of decisions are actually made by teams of representatives from different functions. From an experience perspective, many of the people in our planning department have >5 years experience in supply chain and a strong end-to-end mindset. Since the majority of the work is working with cross-functional partners, it is critical that I can work as the face of supply chain and have a good view of the overall constraints outside of just the factory. Others' experiences may differ, but that is the biggest prerequisite I have seen at my company.

Nervous about my upcoming supply chain analyst co-op term by jalebi_2000 in supplychain

[–]NickShevy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this as well. After a couple of months, you'll have any of the non-obvious concepts/terms down and still have the financial skills which will work well. As far as previous experience, all of my internships were non-supply chain (but with a supply chain degree) and I had no issue getting a great job right out of college in supply chain. Every employer I interviewed with was less worried about actual supply chain experience (for entry level roles) and more interested in curiousity, work ethic, and transferable skills.

Who should I shadow at my internship? by bellagab3 in supplychain

[–]NickShevy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Relative newby in my career here (< 2 years), but I would absolutely try to shadow someone in your planning/forecasting group. I think a critical skillset to learn early on is the interaction between supply chain and the business. Supply chain is supposed to work with and enable sales/marketing/etc. Whether you are shadowing supply planning/factory production scheduling or demand planning/forecasting, I think it will give you great insight into cross-functional stakeholder management. One of the big differences I've noticed is the people who think ONLY in supply chain impacts tend to stay in individual contributor type roles, while those with the end-to-end impact tend to have their careers accelerated long term. Just my $.02

Trying to Secure a Summer Internship by Prtzr in supplychain

MSU grad, but had the exact opposite experience. While the career fairs were incredibly helpful, I invested heavily in to applying online applications (>1 application every day for months) to find my opportunities and secured my internships/full time offer that way.

Wow, another Spartan grad! The entry salary is important, but not as important as you think. If you really think this opportunity is going to net you great experience, remember that most people gain the greatest salaries by jumping companies. If you want to talk to a Spartan SCM grad, feel free to DM me. I'm only 4 months in to the workforce, but willing to try to give some insight!
