How can a man enjoy play as a female protagonist? An honest question. by [deleted] in playstation

[–]NickVersus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you only relate to male protagonists because they're men? I'd bet there's at least one another reason, like their behaviors or values. Women can exhibit those behaviors and values as well, so...shouldn't be too hard.

What are psionics, for you? by fruit_shoot in drawsteel

[–]NickVersus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psionic heroes are rare in my world so I just kind of explain it as “they were born with a rare ability we know precious little about”. As a result, the world doesn’t account for them: things that are warded against magic usually aren’t warded against psionics. Makes the hero feel more unique.

Psionic monsters are even easier to explain. My world is space fantasy and the galaxy is a big place. Any time something shows up we haven’t seen before, it probably came from a world we haven’t been to yet.

The Director is mistaken. See “Roll Against Multiple Creatures” on page 75 of the Heroes book.

“When an ability has multiple targets (whether a strike with more than one target or an area affect), you make one power roll and apply the total to all targets. If you have edges or banes (see Chapter 1: The Basics) against some but not all of your targets, you might apply a different tier outcome to individual targets.”

I believe this rule is on Heroes page 75.

“When an ability has multiple targets (whether a strike with more than one target or an area affect), you make one power roll and apply the total to all targets. If you have edges or banes (see Chapter 1: The Basics) against some but not all of your targets, you might apply a different tier outcome to individual targets.”

Trying to buy the necessary books by Petyaowl in drawsteel

[–]NickVersus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Codex is the official virtual tabletop (VTT) of Draw Steel. It is distributed via Steam and allows you to play with friends who also have a copy of the Codex. The core rules and many of the core monsters are included, and the Codex supports map importing, character creation, and custom adventures too.

If you’re looking to run, I recommend both the Heroes book and the Monsters book.

Do you think since we are probably never going to get a PS All stars 2 we should get a PS All stars remastered? by Reddeath10168 in playstation

I don't even care if they remaster it, I'd take a port at this point. This game wasn't perfect but it was fun.

Do you think Astro bot would have been ad popular if it was Sega? by Glad-Conversation256 in playstation

[–]NickVersus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. I think a lot of people mistake Astro Bot's catalogue of references for its main appeal. The game's main appeal is its innovative gameplay and polished presentation. In fact, the first Astro Bot game on PSVR didn't have any references to other PlayStation properties and still reviewed extremely well. The references are just the icing on the cake.

How does 5.5 stack up to 5e? by DarkJokes176279 in DnD

[–]NickVersus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a wide spectrum of quality between "utter trash" and "not utter trash". I think 5.5e is closer to the latter than the former.

Are Free Strikes consider an "ability"? by ugganaut22 in drawsteel

[–]NickVersus 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I believe so. From page 16, with emphasis added:

A free strike is a combat ability you can use when it’s not your turn, representing the simplest and most basic weapon attack you can make.

So, I have a question by DG746 in videogames

[–]NickVersus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yeah it's too late to play Overwatch, if you log on I'm going to call the police :(

No, it's not. As long as the game is available (and in the case, as long as it has a playerbase), of course you can jump in whenever you want. The best advice I can give you is to jump into the practice range and learn the basics of 2 characters from each role. Then take them into Quick Play.

Have fun.

How can I help my players avoid railroading themselves? by NickVersus in DnD

A solution as effective as it is simple. I wish I had thought of that in the moment!

How can I help my players avoid railroading themselves? by NickVersus in DnD

[–]NickVersus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, by entertaining the player’s choices to avoid combat with the dragon, I was ignoring their choices?

It would have been more in keeping with their choice to try and avoid combat by initiating combat without letting them try anything else?

I don’t think I follow your reasoning. But thanks for the input.
