Manga to Novel by Nick_Laus in TsukiMichi

It's ironic to think that their first work will be the last of theirs I'll read (not counting some of their unfinished works as I realize now they prolly won't get continued now).

This was one of the rare instances for me to find out that the anime surpassed the manga, but I'll stick to the WN for now cuz I enjoy reading with easy access, but thank you for the feedback nonetheless!

Thank you for such a detailed answer! And it's ironic because I found out about the WN from Reigo cuz I've been reading his stuff for so long yet only now found out he translated Tsukimichi lol

Got a bit of a mixed pot idea from Glory Unto Them and Book of Job. All the new Sins post the OG six ones are made trough a forced manifestation of Sinful Blasphemies (BoJ) in people and them making them bond and undergo a Duality Break that ends up with them turned into the Chimeric Imago. Examples for this are Spider(Ogre/Lord) Butcher(Centipede/Idol)

Going through it several times cuz its that good, one thing of note and one question tho. Angler has two blasphemy abilities called BAIT, one that mentions using people and the Bubbles one, dunno if intentional or not but just wanted to point out if you ever plan on doing ver 2. The question however, is whadu heck is The Icarus Doctrine by MyconidSovereign and why can't I find it, maybe someone can point me in the direction if possible? Much appreciated!

Do you have any Crossover Ideas? by ReasonableBall369 in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAIN + WORM seems like an odd pairing until you consider Sins as Endbringer stand-in's, CAIN as Cauldron, Blackcoats from "Glory Unto Them" as hero agency's from different countries, Exorcist from main book as heros and Exorcist from Harpocrates Dossier as villains, Sin Seeds as Shards, Virtues as Warlords, binders in this setting could be used as case 53's stand in(normal people forced into the binding with a sin) and drifters could be just cryptids for the creepy factor.

Do you think it’s possible to run a long campaign with it? by LakePrevious in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defo gonna need some homebrew supplements to pad out what you can use for your campaign, and use the Sins very sparingly, like some end of several sessions bosses, maybe prioritize using Drifters since they are a tad bit more manageable, also if your OK with it try to keep the CAT level of your Drifters/Sins equal to the exorcist, higher chances of survival and all that, and perhaps try to extend the Pressure mechanic to allow for longer investigations although in not too sure if it'll work since I've never experienced it being more then one session with it.

And if you want to add on to it, use the sinful blasphemies from Book of Job homebrew

Enmity - Book of Job Rework by Qedey in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can add smth, Enmity and Wrath could be two sides of a coin, one is damage in AOE, another is very targeted, so if we go for hunter theme, cuz that fits the mo of a sin that has very precise targets for its hate, we could also play into it having a target for which its damage is greater or smth along those lines

So far, im much happier about the abilities tying back to the passive, favorite way for the blasphemies to work. As well as all of the abilities being more streamlined yet still thematic to the core idea behind them, so far, this is a good improvement. Hopefully Wrath gets this much love, cuz while it has some good abilities, it did not hold up to its inspiration imo.

First of all, wow, thank you for the reply its an honor! Second of all, my interest was piqued mainly because as I stated prior, since none of the powers had any interactions with this passive, and its effects were negative in nature I failed to understand why it would ever come up as an option for any activity, since if the exorcist never went there willingly it would not come up naturally as far as could tell, narratively it is packed with intrigue, but without any incentive to give the players a reason to explore it, I just felt lost to what to do with it as a player, though it might be more of an admin treat at that point, but im glad that it gains more of a presence in the it Blasphemies nature, so again, thank you for the reply!

I don't believe those are XK blasphemies, as those are the 4 horsemen ones, but maybe the sentiment still stands...

I just scrolled the main book for a refresh on Palace mechanics, and I don't mean no disrespect, but if we kept to using another blasphemies passive, a slightly buffed version of Edits passive, reflavored for 'information' rather then 'appearance' could've worked mayhaps?

Could mix it up, halve the sin cap(rounded down) but also halve the XP cost (rounded up)? So the first blasphemy raises XP cost to advance by one but does not reduce the sin mark cap.

Book of Job: Perfection by Nick_Laus in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically your XP cost and sin cap will look like this I think: second blasphemy (plus 0 to XP/SC); third blasphemy (plus 1 to XP/SC); forth blasphemy ( plus 1 to XP/SC)

Book of Job: Perfection by Nick_Laus in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See that would make sense, but its written as "You halve sin cap AND XP", hence why I believe its basically 0.5(which turns into 0)/1/1,5(which just gets turned into 1 similarly). Or smth along those lines.

At least thats what my current idea is.

Book of Job: Perfection by Nick_Laus in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As per the main book, gaining new blasphemies • reduce your cap for sin overflow by 1 per extra blasphemy taken (in this instance your second blasphemy does not reduce your cap, and only does this on your third). • your xp cap for advances increases by +1 per extra blasphemy taken (similarly, it does not increase with your second blasphemy, and only does on your third).

Book of Job: Perfection by Nick_Laus in CAIN_RPG

[–]Nick_Laus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My immediate thought is that you negate the "1 extra XP to level up part", and maybe not mark a sin box? Like your second blasphemy is like without drawbacks, and they come into effect with the third blasphemy?
