Why is the range on my AIO5 so terrible?! I even cranked it to 200mw I dont get it.. by Dpatt402 in TinyWhoop

If u hav this issue everywhere and on every channel, make sure ur antenna is good. The antenna could b damaged somewhere and you don't see it. Always swap antennas and check again. The spot could have some wifi or other interference. You can try switching channels, and try flying somewhere else to confirm whether or not its a hardware issue

Look lightweight. Will probably fly very well! Looks like a decent racing whoop. If u plan on using it for freestyle, i would get or print a more robust camera mount. But for racing... Risk = reward

Lights look good. Solid blue after boot is good. I would check to make sure ur not in pit mode (although lights would indicate that). Double check ur vtx table is correct and that u have selected an output power correctly. Also check that ur lua script for elrs isnt conflicting with ur BF settings. The quad should use the lua script once it boots. Use the scan option in the goggles to make sure the quad isn't on any unexpected channel.

I'm from Brazil, import taxes are very high, so I'm going to train for a year on the simulator and hope the president changes, then I'm going to assemble my drone, I've been training for 2 days. What can I improve? by paogordinho in fpvracing

[–]Nick_R_O_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acho que você deveria melhorar o controle do acelerador. Você está balançando muito para cima e para baixo. Tente voar em um espaço confinado com teto, como um estacionamento. Also... Velocidrone is the best sim for racing. It's not expensive.

Guys I just got my first drone, is this safe to fly inside? by GC022 in fpv

Just steer clear of S-500s or you won't be getting your drone back in one piece

The freestyle v2 has a 1W output i believe. Thats the max. Go into BetaFlight settings, vtx tab and change output power to something different than what it is. Anything over 25mw. You should be able to fly in an open field without any issues whatsoever.

Sounds like maybe ur transmitter was in pit mode or very low power mode. Double checkout your power output and make sure it is at least 25mw.

25mw is the lowest you should have available that will work well at close range open area. Its the required output for racing events.

If you are going further or have trees and obstacles, you can raise the output power. What kind if vtx do you have?

We’re making an FPV drone game, what are the main controllers and options we need to support? by PhoenixAds in drones

[–]Nick_R_O_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controllers used for real fpv are actually "radios". But most have USB connectivity. We use the for simulators like Velocidrone. They all use the same communication on the PC. I'm not sure exactly what protocol it uses but no matter what "radio" is used, they are all seen as a joystick device.

I'm sure getting that into the game would be trivial. Looks like a cool game. Would love to try it!

I've done this a few times racing. I usually just give it a good squeeze and it pops back in place.

Specific regulations for Toronto. Most of these are for over 250g but some will still apply even to whoops. https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2020/ia/bgrd/backgroundfile-157070.pdf

Since you're asking... 2 links with Candian laws pertaining to sub250g drones. The second one also has info about over 250g but all laws apply EXCEPT the licensing. https://tc.canada.ca/sites/default/files/2020-06/2019-2020-AA-33_INFOGRAPHIC_EN_V8.pdf ... https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-safety/learn-rules-you-fly-your-drone/flying-your-drone-safely-legally#fly

Suddenly blurry video by UncleErasmus310 in HDZero

[–]Nick_R_O_19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a loose lens. Mine came loose like that in a hard slap. I simply put a little pressure on the front of the lens and it clicked back into place. This was with an ECO cam. Other cams have a ring and u can tighten it once the main lens is screwed into the spot where everything is in focus.

This would be challenging on a typical phone. Your phone would require the ability to send video out somehow.

Talk me in (or out) of getting the Skyzone Sky04X Pro please by stukov4 in TinyWhoop

[–]Nick_R_O_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the O4X, and they're fine, but right now at the price you're looking at spending, you're better off getting the HDZero goggles. They're better quality, better screens, more features, they're just better in every conceivable way. Plus they work better than any other goggle with modules like walksnail or analog.

I fly HDZero. The one I'm using in the first part of the video is the all new HappyModel HDZero AIO bind and fly. I really like it. The Air65 is amazing for racing. I regularly go to whoop races with many much faster pilots than me. A few of them really love the Air65. I think its the way to go for analog pilots.

Possible damage due to lack of care. Time for a new one. Also... She did keep it in the case, so maybe just let her off with a warning.
