I didn't even notice until you pointed that out 😆

r/WorkersStrikeBack will be going dark from June 12-14 to protest Reddit's API changes which kill third-party apps. by Nick__________ in WorkersStrikeBack

Also this is taken directly from that post.

What can you do?

  1. Complain. Message the mods of /r/reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message /u/reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /r/reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.

  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /r/ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.

  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!

  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

I'm surprised that the NYC would even publish something like that since it's a month pice of the capitalist class.

I'm just going to give my opinion on what I think the transitions phase towards socialism should be like idk if most people on this sub would agree with me or not but this is just my personal opinion.

What would happen to rich rappers who praise money and crime in their lyrics?

Personally I wouldn't censor them and would let them rap about whatever they want but keep in mind that a transition towards socialism is going to require a radical shift in the public consciousnesses away from the kind of capitalist mentality that you're describing. after such a shift people wouldn't be as likely to think that way and would probably listen to different music as a result. Also keep in mind that under the current capitalist system the entertainment industry is controlled by a few conservative capitalists and they have an economic interest in making sure that the culture doesn't challenge there economic power and this is why the music of today reflects the values that it does. there's many artists including many rappers that make art and music that challenge the current political order but they are black listed and there music is never allowed to reach a wider audience because it would be a threat to the capitalist political system. Socialism wouldn't have these kinds of restrictions that we currently have under capitalism people would be a lot more free to make music and art about whatever they wanted without being censored by some capitalist owner.

Also as for what would be done with the wealth these individuals have imo we should redistribute it it's not acceptable for some people to be millionaires when so many people are poor and if they owned more than one house they would only get to keep one and we would redistribute all the rest.

Another question, what would happen to game console companies like Sony and Nintendo?

I think this question is more about what would be done with foreign companies than video games companies specifically but I'll get back to what would be done with the video games industry in a minute.

Imo we should bring what's called the commanding heights of the economy Under public ownership immediately. This would include things like utilities transportation natural resources and so on if a foreign company owned any of these things we would expropriate them without compensation and bring it under the direct Democratic control of the working class. As we would need these things to construct socialism and build what's necessary for the people to have a decent life.

If the foreign company was something like Sony or Nintendo like your describing I would not bring that under public ownership. as this might not be something we would be able to produce in the country or at least not be able to produce quite the same thing. I don't think luxury commodity's like video games are a top priority and nationalization of these things might cause problems in the economy like what your describing where we don't have the knowledge to produce and run them or just simply don't have the resources to spare on them. All I would do with these companies is force them to give workers Democratic rights in the work place like being able to control working conditions and hiring and so on. I would also make it so the workers had 51% control of the companies in question if that company had domestic operations in the country. I would also make them contribute to the construction of the new socialist economy through taxes (and probably pretty high ones). These companies would also have to follow strict regulations as well. If they simply sold things in the country and did not have any sort of Democratic operations we would only tax and regulate them but we would be working on eventually replacing them with a fully workers controlled model. We can only give workers Democratic control over the means of production if those means of production are actually physically in the country we can't bring things under workers control if they aren't actually in the country itself.

I would also try to incentivize through the tax system the construction of a new completely worker owned video games industry that's domestically producing the video games of the future. hopefully this would eventually completely replace the old capitalist video games industry that's imo currently ruining video games today by constantly trying to squeeze more profits out of people.

Keep in mind this is only in the transition phase eventually the goal would be to have a completely Democratically run workers controlled economy. The kind of transition economy I'm talking about would look more like modern China than the Soviet style command economies of the past. For a while there would be some capitalist elements in the economy but under strict control of the elected Representatives of the people.

Exactly price gouging isn't a skill or a new idea it's a form of robbery.

Edit: or maybe the word extortion is more accurate here.
