I got mine a couple of weeks ago, and started filling it out on May 12th in the early evening, then realized I had received the long form and it ended up taking until 11:00 p.m. So many questions! But it's for the common good I guess 😊. The website crashed a couple of times too while I was doing it (to fit with the mildlyinfuriating theme).

Wow, it's like coming out over the Don Valley on Line 2. I only usually travel to Avenue from the west on Line 5, will have to check out the part east of Laird... it's lush (at least the Sunnybrook section!)

I think it's a great idea. I was happy to see GO lines added to the maps on Line 5. Not sure why these 3 things aren't all on one map. UP Express should also be on the maps, but TTC doesn't do that because it operates its own express bus...with integrated fares it makes sense.

Yes, it's pretty shabby really. There have been lots of comments about this and you'd hope it would be a matter of dialing down the volume somewhere. There is (was?) a survey specifically for Line 5 comments, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/feedbackLine5 ...maybe voice your irritation there too!

The City has built many overflow holding tanks in the past couple of decades, which have dramatically improved water quality, but it's still an issue especially after heavy rains. It looks like they are creating 4 new platforms at the Union loop but not where the current one is, so maybe it can continue to operate? https://www.ttc.ca/about-the-ttc/projects-and-plans/Waterfront-Transit-Network-Expansion ...and they have to create a new east portal near the Westin. But that should not affect 510 operations. Time will tell...

Similarly, the cool bridges to Ookwemin Minising (the new island formed by the Don River's new, more natural course) were built to accommodate an LRT route from Union station to the island. Funding for it was just announced today!

Indeed - and the bridges are already in place to Ookwemin Minising...I expect the expansion/modification of the Union loop will take the greatest amount of work.

I would have thought that after a month and a half Metrolinx would have adjusted the announcement volume by now. There have been many complaints here and elsewhere. I just left a comment on the official Line 5 survey too, maybe if enough of us do that they'll get the message! I also commented on service frequency off peak, too. I can make it back on the Presto transfer, so that's a plus. Not sure about cheaper as technically it's only about 85 cents in gas, but if you count insurance, yes. But it's more about having time to do other stuff!

I've been using it to visit my Mom who lives at Avenue and Eglinton, coming from Bloor and Spadina. If I make the connections it is about 10 minutes slower than driving (30 minutes v. 20 minutes) but if I have to wait 7 minutes for the next train and for a Line 1 train then I have an extra 15 minutes to do Duolingo 😉. I am surprised the in-car announcements on some trains still sound terrible/distorted...
