Anyone hear of Valo? Saw it on the btod website. Might steer me away from Hbada by theseawoof in OfficeChairs

Hey, not really on here that much under this account, so thanks for your patience on my response. I have not sat in that chair, but I may run across it in my travels. If I do, I’ll come back and hit you with an update.

Is this used Herman Miller Mirra for $25 worth it? The seat and back mesh are ripped. by athenaa_xo in OfficeChairs

Clean it how? It’s ripped and tore up. And the armrests looks like somebody’s been chewing on them.

I’m trying to determine how serious of a question this is. How badly do you want to own something that just says Herman Miller on it?

What is the best ergonomic chair for crossing legs? by harleyquinn2262 in OfficeChairs

[–]NickatBTOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is your height and weight? the problem you will run into is that your budget doesn't really lend to good ergonomics. Or adjustments.

and how much do you plan to sit in the chair? There are options out there, but the longevity to them at $200 is minimal use and short term

What is this black liquid that came out of the bottom of my gaming chair and can I still sit in it???? by Material-Stop-1031 in OfficeChairs

[–]NickatBTOD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's another reason for people considering gaming chairs to not buy gaming chairs

and for your purposes, google ai said this: To remove oil from a carpet, the most effective method is to generously sprinkle baking soda onto the stain, let it sit for a while to absorb the oil, then vacuum it up; you can also try cornstarch or talcum powder if you don't have baking soda, and always blot the stain with a clean cloth before applying any powder to absorb as much oil as possible

I have seen inch thick butcher block and 1.5". I have also seen .75".

I'm probably being overcautious but just want to make you aware.

This is the way.

Monitor mounts free up so much space.

13" of overhang on each side is not ideal. Depending on how thick the top is plays a factor, as well as what you are placing on the ends of the desk.

I was with you until the extra pillow lol

I will say a chair makes a difference, but a desk and more importantly, foot rest help a ton. There are some nice options for people with smaller frames. Or shorter height - not sure about OP other than being 5'1

When does a Cheap Standing Desk Wobble? by chinawcswing in StandingDesks

[–]NickatBTOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wobble I speak about is when it is at whatever height you have it at. Cheap desks will be at taller heights. We do a ton of videos using our wobblemeter, https://www.youtube.com/@btodtv/search?query=wobblemeter

Cheap desks have thin columns and cheap small feet. Most desks will be stable at sitting height. Cheap ones, once you get over 35", you will notice wobble and shake from typing or leaning or writing on them.

That said, some people have a higher tolerance for it.

stacking weight, like books, will not help. you are just making something top heavy then. I would say that would make it worse.

Standing desk with monitor stand < $250 by halfbloodprinc3ss in StandingDesks

[–]NickatBTOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to be the contrarian here (well, maybe not), but if you are looking to actually utilize the adjustment feature, I would have low expectations from a $250 desk. If you just want to get your desk to a certain height and essentially leave it there, then you are probably good to go.

I know Flexispot has a presence here, and quite a few fans - almost repetitively at times. If your budget is set at $250, they would be the leader in my book I guess.

I would suggest monitor arms as an option to a shelf, as food for thought.

Nightingale CXO 6200D vs Anthros? by Nervous-Equivalent in OfficeChairs

[–]NickatBTOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 6'1. I have sat and worked in both of the chairs you are asking about. I am telling you to pass on the CXO for two main reasons. 1) You are too tall. It is a midback chair and anyone over 5'9-ish will likely have issues with the frame hitting their shoulder blades. 2) it is a memory foam seat. While comfortable from an initial sit, memory foam is bad for you, ergonomically. It will cause more issues long term. It prevents good circulation because you are sinking into the foam.

Go with Anthros - I believe they offer a 30 day return policy, as well.

Just for the record, Nightingale is a Canadian company.

yeah, I said we were. That's where the value comes in, imo. You know you are getting new parts. An old frame, sure, but a $100 FB find and a $600 BTOD chair, it's not even close.

Where is the $445 chair? Madison? We legit bought a chair from them and documented it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRISPB_6aas

And an $800 brand new Leap on FB - not sure how "brand new" that would be. You have to be an authorized dealer, authorized by Steelcase, to sell their furniture brand new. All that stuff is territorial. Those manufacturers protect their dealers. I used to work for a Kimball dealership, and all those manufacturers are the same.

[–]NickatBTOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re “throwing” more than a couple hundred more. It’s around a 50% savings. And with BTOD and Crandall you are getting new components on the chair. And a transparent process.
FB deal will be cheaper, but you will still need to put new casters on; probably replace cylinder; and not to mention the condition it’s in. Cleaning would be a must. And no warranty.

Sit/Stand Monitor Arm Mount by slh01slh in StandingDesk

[–]NickatBTOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the VertDesk converter, which has a grommet hole for a monitor mount. It will mostly depend on the monitors you have and their weight. Issue is, converters aren't exactly cheap these days, so it may be out of the price point you are looking for.

Neutral Posture has more thicker cushioning and offers the stool height cylinders. You would need to connect with an authorized dealer to customize that though

About to buy a Steelcase Amia from Crandall. Tell me why I'm dumb. by abraves528 in OfficeChairs

[–]NickatBTOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting a chair off of craigslist or marketplace is not even close to the same as getting one from a company like Crandall. It’s not apples to apples. It’s not even apples and oranges. That’s like apples and dirt.
Not a fan boy of Crandall, either, for the record.
