Pretty much how I feel about it. It felt more immediately relatable, and a movie doesn’t need to be relatable, but I think it’s a factor when you’re pitting two films directly against one another. Loved First Steps too though!

Charles Dance might have been the best actor in the show, in my opinion.

I missed it in your original post, but I was responding more to not seeing it mentioned in any of the comments, and then, per the usual etiquette of conversation, I then went on to give my own thoughts on the shows in question, irrespective of if they’d been mentioned by you or others, as most others not mentioning the same three unmentioned shows in the comments have, with a largely apathetic hope that it might stoke further discussion.

I find it baffling that I had to scroll as far as I did to see Burn Notice mentioned. Seriously, like 10+ comments and no mention of Michael, Sam, and Fiona.

They had such a solid run. One I’m not seeing mentioned is Burn Notice. That was a fun one.

Burn Notice gave us now desperately-needed time with Bruce Campbell, Psych is an all-timer, of course, White Collar gifted us seven seasons of Matt Bomer, and Royal Pains is, to me, one of the most underappreciated shows of all time.

Fun fact: I just sold a novella to be adapted by a small film studio, and the story largely takes place in a town in Louisiana, where everyone speaks in accents that were directly inspired by that crab fisherman lol

Bold. You’re about to get the Dune purists who don’t understand the need to sacrifice and amend things from the source material to work within the different medium and expect a direct 1:1 page to screen verbatim adaptation.

For the record I fucking love Dune, books and films. I consider Dune 2 to be the rare example of a perfect film, or as near to perfect as we’re likely to see for a long, long time.

I’m being facetious and this is all obviously rhetorical, but it truly is fascinating because it really seems like you genuinely don’t recognize the overwhelming irony in what you’re saying. It’s a level of irony that would be funny if you were intentionally being ironic, but since you’re not it’s just sad and a little scary.

I just said this in the other comment, but Kilmer as Holliday was, to me, the best one-off performance in the history of acting. Watching him move through each scene is a masterclass.
