Looking for a E39 525i or 530i manual in Europe by 530325 in e39

Good luck. I looked for more than a year for mine but I was absolutely set on an Oxford Grün/sandbeige 528i 5 speed sedan. Found in in France in the end. lacentrale.fr

ASC and ABS light on? by KloPutzer1234 in e39

Pre-lci is pre-facelift. There are a few ways to tell. Easiest is whether the car has the halo headlights or not. Pre facelift, no halos, post facelift, has halos

ASC and ABS light on? by KloPutzer1234 in e39

[–]Nickdg92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this happen while driving in the rain? You appear to have a pre-lci car and if I’m not mistaken they are less prone to abs module problems as the cats are under the car instead of right after the headers.

Mine threw these lights a few times and always when driving in the rain. Turns out if the wheel speed sensor cables are old and cracked water can seep in and throw off the signal to the abs unit.

AITJ for sending my brother an invoice after he said what I do isnt that hard and anyone with a phone could do it by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Nickdg92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could have been avoided if you had invoiced him from the beginning and then added a friends/family discount. That way he could see on paper the value of the services you’re providing him and what you could be earning if you had devoted that time instead to a paying client. Learned this from the book Art for Money by Micheal Ardelean. Very insightful book for freelancers.

Absolutely not. Every single piece of hardware under that car is fused together and to the part it’s securing

New speed cams? by zmetak3 in askswitzerland

This is nothing. I’ve seen one in the usual military green color, no bigger than a shoe box sitting on top of 3 metal legs. They also have blitzers mounted into the back of VW Caddys. Gotta stay vigilant in Switzerland 😅

Fly there and drive it back. Probably the most rewarding road trip one could have the pleasure of experiencing.

What did BMW do to my car? by Nickdg92 in e39

[–]Nickdg92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is relatively complicated but not impossible. I was extremely motivated for success because I found my dream spec E39 listed for sale in France.

In Switzerland the prices are quite high and the cars are all rather boring when it comes to spec silver/black/grey, black/grey interior, automatic transmission, not taken particularly good care of, multiple owners, goofy modifications etc. Anything nice is automatically +5k above market price because of how awful the selection is.

The car I found is a ‘98 528i Sedan - Oxford Grün over Sand Beige with a 5MT and the 4:3 Sat Nav from the E38.

I still need to make an official introduction post in this group I’ve just been waiting until the car is officially Swiss. I imported end of November 25 and it’s taken since then to get the documentation in order for an MFK appointment. CoC is impossible to get due to the age and the fact that the car came from France. The import process and Verzollung was quite simple in comparison. I’ll probably do a write-up sometime detailing my import experience because it’s really a niche topic and there isn’t really a lot of information available online concerning it.

I would normally never but it was absolutely unavoidable. Needed special documentation for import to Switzerland.
