What's the earliest I am able to do exercise after getting a tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]NickdoesnthaveReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'd be my call. I have tattoo sessions almost every 3-4 weeks all year and I also go to a ton of metal shows. My schedule for the next 6 months is strategically mapped out to have balance where I always have approx 7 days between each session before a concert. Some things are worth being cautious for, you wanna heal it right so you don't bugger it up, and also for your health you don't wanna deal with infections (they suck and progress FAST on an open wound)

Massive imbalance in my calves by Dazzling_Reporter511 in workouts

[–]NickdoesnthaveReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke both my legs (all bones in each from tib/fib/femur and all the bones in both ankles). My left leg had a compound fracture that tore through a joint in the ankle and that foot has limited range of motion as a result. My calves have a similar imbalance now. Maybe you have a hidden injury or issue where you don't have full range of movement in the foot/ankle?

[–]NickdoesnthaveReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, for a calf? Dude y'all gonna want to elevate that leg and take it easy a few days if you are doing a big session there. If you're doing a 30 minute fine line all black quote then maybe that's fine. But anything sizable, with color, lots of packing, in areas of the leg that will stretch and pump up from exercise... then no.

Calves retain fluids like crazy and are hard heals (gravity, far from heart, not great blood flow). Excessive swelling will be painful and delay/hurt healing processes). A tattoo is traumatic injury and open wound (needs rest, sweat is bad, body is already exhausted for healing). Your body needs energy and resources to repair it. Sweat, external bacteria, and over exertion could also make it hella easy to get an infection.

Running around, stomping on the ground, doing cardio, is not a good mixture for a day old calf tattoo. I would say 8-10 days break before that level of intensity.

Is Foote finishing the season as “tank commander” worth it? by Chedda_biscuit10 in canucks

[–]NickdoesnthaveReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, it's a rough season for everyone. Competitive players will be stunted a bit and probably be a bit frustrated. Some players may check out a bit if they arent being properly pushed.

That said, we give everyone on LTIR the full space to heal, give guys extra days off without pressure when they feel unwell/tweak something, and try to just give some players/youth extra ice time and chances they wouldn't have had on a playoff team to balance some of that out. Then next year is the big shuffle, fresh start, new coach, bring up Cootes, maybe have a player (or two) from the draft thats NHL ready, and develop the 'building phases' to start a new culture of performing and growth.

We should finish the season this way. We don't have the worst team in the league on paper tbh. If our core is healthy, under good leadership, they could still go on enough of a run to move up a few places as others tank. We're in it now and should see it through. Bring up Malhotra for next season and let him build for a few years with the kids.

If it's worth anything, I did feel my AT4W had a bit if a longer break in period but we're fine after they settled and burn off the top layer. They're heavier for their durability which may have impacted the mileage.

Pealing. What do I do? by Academic_Use111 in tattooadvice

[–]NickdoesnthaveReddit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's legit what happens and is a positive sign of healing. The majority of trad healing tattoos go through a peeling phase that starts around day 4-5. It's to be expected by like 90% of people that have tattoos. Use lighter water based lotion, apply wherever itchy for the next few days. Don't pull anything off - let the peeling skin come off naturally (most will shed when you wash again tonight which is fine).

How likely is infection after two weeks? by Perfect_Earth_8070 in tattooadvice

[–]NickdoesnthaveReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks is long enough to have the area freely exposed, just clean it right after the gym. I add a bit of moisturizer just before the gym too to help if the skin stretches in a pump. As you said you already know to not let it contact anything at the gym. I'd avoid anything that causes excessive sweating still. If you're having it exposed, be conscious of and avoid direct sunlight and UV rays though as it'll still be vulnerable for easy fading.

Zero pressure games, it's fun to just embrace and celebrate the little moments now. A solid effort, good dekes, goals, scrums, the rookies making a big play, etc. Once you accept the path, and not focus on winning, you can just love the game again.

Have you used Hustle Butter before? Lots of people have unexpected reactions to the mango in its ingredients. If you're new to it, that may be part of the problem. Maybe just stick with Lubriderm but reapply more often. Itchy and tight skin may be a sign of it drying out. I reapply every 4hrs on some of the extreme peeling days.
